  1. As they say - location, location, location. Went ahead with it via your link. It is indeed the Wyndham New Yorker. Thanks. PRICELINE EXPRESS: Pets Allowed Restaurant Business Center Fitness Center
  2. Partly I was looking at that area based on price; and I'm not that familiar with the NYC areas. I wanted to be close to the L line or have easy and convenient access to the L line because someone we will be spending time with uses that line extensively. I saw that 4* MSG listing that I suspected was the Wyndham New Yorker, but I was concerned about some of the reviews I read on Trip Advisor. I'd be happy enough to go with your suggestion, however, if the L line access is sufficiently convenient and the reviews are on balance okay in your/others' opinions. Thanks.
  3. I did not end up taking either of these options as I needed to change my itinerary.
  4. Planning a trip April 2-9. Plan to see a Broadway show, and to visit Union Square, the Highline, Central Park, Brooklyn and perhaps the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. Wondering if the LES/Chinatown area is well located for those purposes. If so, I see on Priceline.Express that they have a 3 1/2 star for ~$176, pet friendly, restaurant, fitness and business centers that might be the Wyndham Garden Chinatown. They also have a 2 star for $158, pet friendly, free breakfast and internet that might be the Comfort Inn Manhattan Bridge. Have I correctly identified them? If those are the correct identifications, they appear to be very closely located to one another, and they both receive positive reviews - is the Wyndham worth the additional expense? Are they conveniently located for our interests? Is another location a better choice? Especially for access to the L line? Thanks.
  5. Please help ID in Princeton Lawrenceville, Nov 10-14 3.5 Fitness center, restaurant, business center, hi-speed internet. $59 3 Suite, complimentary breakfast, fitness center, pool, business center, hi-speed internet, ktichen. $59 Thanks.
  6. Initial bid $125 generated response to add $22. Bid $130 - a win.
  7. Thanks for the answer, AaronJB. I noticed shortly after I posted this query, that two bidders identified it by their wins. It also disappeared off HOTWIRE shortly thereafter.
  8. Any guesses as to what this might be? $199, listed as usually retails at $336.72. Amenities are Boutique, Fitness, Smoke-free, and Business Center. Thanks.
  9. Hmm, the UWS hotel I was considering for a backup had a low rate only for a room with a shared bath. Anyway. I think the UWS wouldn't be convenient enough since there isn't a crosstown subway. I have a cancellable backup for the Travel Inn for $227 (before taxes, etc). What do you think are realistic $$ figures for JC 2 1/2 - 3, or UM/CBS, MTW, MTE, MTS 3* or 4*? I'd prefer to try for the least expensive 3* in NYC while I continue to try in JC.
  10. ~230 for a 3*, and ~300 for a 4*. Some of the UWS hotels seem to have lower rates. Is it difficult to get from the UWS to the Met Museum?
  11. I've bid (via savingsbarn) up to $130 for 2 1/2* or 3* in JC, and up to $230 for a 4* in UM/CPS, MTE, MTW, MTS without success. This is really tedious and time consuming. What do you think is a realistic $ figure for JC, and for a 3* in Manhattan or a 4* in Manhattan.
  12. I can skip the UES. Is the UWS inconvenient to the Met Museum? If not, are there wins in that zone?
  13. I bid up to $190 for a NYC 4* (via savingsbarn) without success. What would you suggest for bidding for the least expensive 3*? How would a 3* in the UES be if I want to go to the Met Museum a fair amount as well as see a show or two? Current max is $200, but I'm willing to extend that some if that's what it takes as it get closer to the dates.
  14. Yes, I'm ready to bid. I'd like to conservatively bid NYC first - UM/CPS, MTW, MTE, MTS, 4* or 3*. In Jersey City, 2 1/2 * would be okay if it's the Courtyard (I don't think I see other 2 1/2*s in JC).
  15. I want to find accommodations for a vacation visit to NYC - wish to be convenient to Broadway, the Met Opera, and the Met Museum. We've stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Jersey City before which was fine, but I see the rates there are high (>$300). If we can get a room at that Hyatt or another hotel in Jersey City for a significant savings, I'd prefer it. Otherwise, I'd bid in Manhattan. Is it likely that we could get a decent room in Jersey City for <$150, or in Manhattan for <$200 for those dates? If I start bidding now, what kind of strategy could I use to bid both areas sequentially? Thanks.
  16. Decided to book this ($53 this time) - it's the Radisson. Went through Savingsbarn.
  17. I'm not going with the IC Barclay. I have a cancellable reservation at an UWS hotel for more than I wish. My plan is to wait for something to come up that's more desirable for less money. I am using your travel links and Savings Barn now when I go looking, and will when I find something. I'm also still considering Jersey City, but I can't yet decide on the money savings versus convenience/location factor. Thanks.
  18. Thanks, I realize now that previous posts would suggest that this was the IC Barclay, as you indicate. I wonder why the retail price is listed on Hotwire as $239, when the best rates available on the IC Barclay's own website are in the ~260-290 range (AARP, "Best Available, etc)?
  19. Could you please help identify this Hotwire listing which comes up when I enter 2 A and 1 C: 4* Midtown East, Customer Favorite, Amenities: restaurant, tennis, fitness center, business center. 4/5 traveler rating with 80+ reviews on Trip Advisor. $215, marked down from $239. I don't quite understand what the markdown refers to, markdown from Hotwire's previous price? I previously had seen something almost identical to the above come up on Hotwire, except it was not listed as a customer favorite, and it also listed hi-speed internet on the amenities. But it, too, listed a reduction from $239 (to $217). I had thought that was the Grand Hyatt. Thanks for your help.
  20. It was a few days ago that I thought I identified a place that was either the Park Central or the other hotel that has the same amenities, but things have changed now in the listings so I can't retrace my steps. I also have seen what could be the Millenium UN Plaza come up for 2 A but not for 2 A and 1 C. Is it possible to comment in general about this question?
  21. Hi, I'm back. I have a question regarding Hotwire offerings. If I search for a NYC room for 2 adults and 1 child very few to no hotels come up. If I search for just 2 adults there are several offerings. Would it be risky to book a room at a Hotwire hotel that can be identified in advance as having rooms big enough for 3 people even though they are only coming up on Hotwire through a search for a room for 2 adults?
  22. Thanks. I'd rather avoid one of those three.
  23. There's a 3* for $52 with the following amenities: Restaurant(s) Property offers at least one restaurant on the premises; hours and days of operation may vary. Pool(s) Property offers at least one pool area; hours and dates of operation may be seasonal. Fitness Center Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply.
