3.5 out of 5 on Trip Advisor with 501-1000 reviews

I think the "free parking" and Trip Advisor reviews narrows it down to Holiday Inn San Antonio Downtown Market Square. But I don't see this on the Hotwire Hotel List.

  3. Thanks. I am trying to combine my stay with my IHG free night award which includes the InterContinental, Holiday Inn (Magnificent Mile, Mart Plaza, and Downtown), Hotel Indigo, and Crown Plaza. Dates are 9/24 - 9/28. I was planning on using the free night either 9/24 or 9/27 and book Priceline or Hotwire the other 3 nights. IHG limits when you can use the award and after searching, it seems the only feasible combination is Holiday Inn Mart Plaza free night 9/24 and Hotwire/Priceline 9/25-9/28.

I believe I have found it for Hotwire Magnificent Mile Area - River North area for $204/nt:

    3.5*

    Complimentary: Free Internet

Amenities: Business center, Fitness center, Indoor pool(s), Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Self-service laundry

    Accessibility: Accessible for visually impaired

and Priceline Express Magnificent Mile - River North Area for $175/nt:

    3.5*

Business Center, Restaurant, Free Internet, Indoor or Outdoor Pool, Fitness Center

  6. If you are considering the Medical Center, it could be a good fit because of Rice, the Museum District, and the rail that goes to downtown. Just one word of caution...immediately south of the actual Medical Center (Old Spanish Trail area) gets really sketchy. I've had my car broken into at one of the extended stay hotels there. I do not recommend walking at night. If you can find something north of Braeswood and west of Main, that would be best.

  7. What you're looking for is Rice Village. It is the area immediately north/west of Rice University. Lots of neat shops, good restaurants, kind of like a small college town within Houston. It also has a nice 3-mile walking track around the campus. All other areas in Houston either do not have shopping/restaurants within walking distance or get scary at night. The only problem is I don't know of many hotels in that area other than the Medical Center which also gets scary at night. I could be wrong though.

If you have a good price at the Galleria, I would take it. The Galleria has restaurants and shops within walking distance along with hotels, but just not my cup of tea...very concrete.

  8. Yah, I wanted something closer to downtown because of the Comic Con convention. I was hoping for the Marriott, but didn't know about the "see all" amenities link otherwise I would have known it was Loews. On the positive side, this is the closest/cheapest hotel for that weekend!
