I am currently looking for a hotel in DC for early December (my budget is 100-150/night). I would like to stay at the intercontinental (Willard) (or another similar hotel in that area if anyone has advice) which is close to the major sites etc.
The dates for my travel are 12/3/08 to 12/7/08.
I wanted to know how I should bid in order to get the Intercontinental? Should I start bidding at $120-130 or if I start at $100 will I likely get another hotel? Thanks.

Just wanted to give an update on this bid.
We returned from our vacation and thought the Hilton was ok. Not sure why this gets a 'resort' classification, other than this hotel's proximity to the theme parks there was nothing too special about it.
However, on this same trip we spent 2 nights at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress - we booked this also through priceline for $90/night (October 9-11). We highly, highly recommend this hotel - excellent amenities, great pool. Well worth the money.
Yes - I bid using the resort category only and followed your advice by rebidding while adding other vicinities which did not have resorts etc.
Thanks,
TA
Just booked WDW Hilton for 2 nights at $65 10/3-10/5 through PRICELINE.
I could not get the $55/night rate that someone else recently posted though.

I just booked this through HOTWIRE and it is in fact the Sheraton Maui hotel - 4* Kaanapali area. (10/12/12 - 10/14/12)
