I don't think this will take anywhere near $100. Hopefully less than $60.

To start I suggest $39 for a 2.5* in Manhattan/Redondo Beach.

Add Santa Monica-Marina del Rey and bid $40.

Add Lawndale and bid $42. (Lawndale is your only free rebid zone for 2.5* since Lawndale only offers hotels up to 2*.)

If that fails, wait 24 hours and repeat at $43, $44, $45.

Please start your bids with this PRICELINE link.

Good luck!

edited to add: The above strategy assumes you're looking for the least expensive 2.5* or 3* in either zone. If you'd rather bid up to $100 for a 3* first, then if that fails try for 2.5*, let us know and someone will give a different strategy instead.

You can't target a specific property with PRICELINE... you need to be able to accept any hotel in the zone that you bid at the star level or higher you select. Even though the residence inn of manhattan beach is the only 3* hotel reported in the Redondo - Manhattan Beaches zone, there could be others, or your 3* bid could be upgraded and you could receive a higher rated hotel.

If you're trying to target a specific property HOTWIRE can be a better option if you're able to identify the hotel you're seeking being offered. (although the Residence Inn has not yet been reported to the board)

Given the above, how would you like to proceed?

nice win dude!! Ive been trying to get it that weekend after you are there, up to 82 bucks a night with no luck.....

I started the bid at 40 with increments of 10

I choose beverly hills/west hollywood and hollywood for 3 stars minimum once i got rejected a few times and added more I added another area with no difference in star levels. That helped me because it still works from the 4* down and my initial locations. Actual hotel was not my choice but I read some reviews and I am satisfied excpet of course the 20/night parking which I was expecting.

At least is was not as bad at Mellenium in Boston(90 night for 4 stars woohoo) but 40$/night parking :)

Note: I just looked at my PL confirmation for the hotel, I actual won it at 60/night but with taxes came out to 72

well thanks to your advice, I won the room for 68 bucks plus tax on 8/24, came to 85.29 (not sure why the taxes were so high compared to you)

I was only able to win the last night of my stay though, Im going to have to bid a lot more to get it the other 3 nights.....

Do you know when you win your stay sometimes or maybe all the time they ask "if you want to add an extra night for the same price" you bid.

In your case you won the last night so I am not sure how you will work around that unless you bid again for those other nights and then in that case you might have to change your room from PL bid to PL bid. Hopefully that makes sense.

about the taxes...

Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $60.00 (USD)

Number of Rooms: 1

Number of Nights: 2

Room Subtotal: $120.00 (USD)

Taxes and Fees: $25.43 (USD)

Total Room Cost: $145.43 (USD)
