This is my very first post. I read and skimmed thru most the post regards the SF hotel and how to bid on priceline/hotwire so I decided to give my first shot for this upcoming memorial day weekend. I placed the bid for 80 bucks for the 4**** hotel in SF USE area, few seconds later it went thru and tells me that I won the bid for going to this hilton for 80 bucks for 2 nights so its

80 x 2 = 160.00 + 31.91 tax (191.91). Can someone tell me if its a good deal or not for the long wkend?

Also, I am planning to come from LA area, would it be a good idea for me to fly up there or drive up there since the gas is like insane. If i am going to drive up there...where is a good place to park around the area?

For the hotel...what kinda rooms should I be expected / or what rooms I need to request for upon (or before) check in???? Its my first time there for years...so I am really excited. Please help me out so I can utilize my trip experience! thanks so much!

Newbie2006,

The hotel you are in, Hilton Financial District, is freshly remodled and is a

great bargain for $80 per night. The hotel has a garage that charges $40 per

day with no in/out. There is a city garage directly across the street from the

hotel that is $25.00 per day and also no in/out. I stayed on the go most of

my trip therefore I used on-street parking at meters that are free after 7pm

until 7 am. I had to get up/out of the hotel and move the car by 7am

but that was not a problem for me. Note, if you are playing the russian roulette

with the parking meters note the paint on the curb and the fact that each side of

the street will have different tow-away days. Now for the local tips of the day!!!

Go out the front door of the Hilton, turn left and in the very next building is a

great Mom and Pop place to get breakfast for little money. Continue on past

the mom/pop place and about 1/2 a block, cross the street. You would never

suspect that one of the best Chinese restaurants located on the fringe of China

Town is called R&G Lounge. Moderately priced meals, I had to wait 45 minutes

for a table, but it was worth it. Treat yourself to a great meal where the locals

dine and check it out...

R & G Lounge :)

PS If you decide to fly up, check prices into San Jose or Oakland which may be

cheaper than SFO.

Regards, Keoni :)
