Hotwire Hotel: 4*(??) Santa Barbara Four Seasons Resort Santa Barbara

Rack rate on the Four Seasons Biltmore started at $945. We were pretty sure we'd get it because Hotwire had $945 crossed out and listed at $347. And also, because someone else inquired about it on this forum and the admin said it was likely the Four Seasons Biltmore. We are really happy with the deal since we are getting married the day we check in and who doesn't want to save money?

We got totally ripped off on this. We had a confirmation from HOTWIRE naming The Four Seasons Biltmore as our hotel.. We arrive and the Biltmore has no record of any reservation. They say they don't contract with HOTWIRE. They don't, of course, Tourco is the third party. The Biltmore will not honor the Hotwire confirmation. We spent three hours there trying to sort it out. Biltmore said it would only provide a room if we started all over and pay $495 a night. By the end of three hours, our option was the Biltmore at $495 or the Canary Hotel. The Canary is nice but is not on the level of the Biltmore. Further, the price on Expedia for the Canary is $295. It is an urban boutique hotel and the ocean is a mile away, at least. Of those who stayed over the weekend, only the newlyweds, us, were nowhere near the water. We are furious at both Hotwire and the Biltmore.

Hotwire should have pulled out its corporate credit card and made it immediately right. But it did not. We paid more for less and got completely bamboozled. How do we go about getting our money back?

I'm very sorry to hear about what happened, especially on the day you got married.

Did you try to contact HOTWIRE and tell them what happened?

Yes, we contacted Hotwire, we were on hold with them most of those three hours. The Biltmore said they wouldn't deal with them but eventually the Biltmore and Hotwire talked but neither side would budge. That is, the Biltmore wanted its $475 before we could get a room and Hotwire was unwilling to pay that difference and thus their solution was to give us a room we could have gotten less expensively if we did it ourselves. It really is not okay.
