Started bidding with the PRICELINE link at 50 $, got counteroffer for 72, declined and raised the bids by 5 $. Got accepted at 65$ for The Shores Resort And Spa .

Hotwire was 89 and website stated 120$ for the room.

04/21-22

Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $65.00 (USD)

Number of Rooms: 1

Number of Nights: 1

Room Subtotal: $65.00 (USD)

Taxes and Fees: $16.05 (USD)

Total Room Cost: $81.05 (USD)

I have never done PRICELINE before and I am trying to score this property for May 7 (check out May 9)

I read the tips on Free Re-Bidding on your website, but I've bid anywhere from 55 up to 79$ in the past 2 days and haven't gotten any counter offers. How do you get counter offers? It just says it can't fulfill my request. Do you think maybe it has no rooms available for that day? (If I check PRICELINE regular NON NYOP hotels, it is available) I am confused and don't want to spend any more than I have to (I'm unemployed and have to go to a family wedding).

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

Rates do differ from day-to-day. If you are not getting a counter-offer, then your bids are not high enough to be accepted in this zone at this star rating for these dates. HOTWIRE is showing a 3.5* in the Daytona Beach/Ormond Beach area for $62 - there's also a 3* in the South Daytona Beach/Daytona Beach Shores area for $59. You could also try seeing if a lower star rating in the zone will accept a lower bid. Let us know your thoughts and we can then make further suggestions from there.

Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Note that when you bid on PRICELINE you're not able to bid on a specific property, so you need to be willing to accept any 4* hotel in this zone.

If you check hotel direct rates for the dates that ghostwriter won and compare them to rates for your own stay, you'll see that rates for your dates are slightly more expensive, which would imply that it may take a higher bid to be successful.

What would be your maximum bid for this stay? Is this the wedding hotel?

Thanks for the info. I am willing to accept any 4* in the area, but the point for me here is to spend about the same for a better hotel, than for a less-than-stellar hotel elsewhere. Probably my max would be 85 - 90 - if I go higher than that, I might as well stay in New Smyrna Beach, which is where the wedding will be (the wedding is on the beach). The selection of hotels there is pretty lousy, so I started surfing around on Priceline and Hotwire.

Priceline has this hotel for $187 per night, so I guess I would need to bid around 90-95 (that would be about 50%) per night?

Appreciate the info!

Your maximum bid is less than half of the prevailing rates for this nite, and while savings of 50% (or more) are not unheard of, they're not guaranteed.

As you mention in your previous post that you're getting a duplicate bid message, exactly what bids/zones are you selecting in your bidding cycle when you try to re-bid? Has it been at least 24 hours since your previous bidding from the day before?

Yep, I see that I'm bidding too low....

As for rebidding, I am doing

Daytona Beach Shores (Call it Zone A)

AB

ABC

ABCD

ABCDE

(NOT choosing Daytona Beach because it also has 4* hotels, but is farther away, so I'm skipping it).

I think what my problem is is that I close the TAB in my browser when I want to do something like Zone ACD, rather than close the whole browser. I will try that.

However, I just went to bid again for today and I went up to 90 and still didn't get even a counter offer. I'm wondering if the fact that it is Mother's Day weekend might have something to do with it.

Your "ACD" bid is a duplicate because it is a subset of your previous "ABCDE" bid.

If you want to bid 5 zones you have to bid as follows (close the browser and using our link to re-access PRICELINE after each bid):

A

AB

AC

AD

AE

ABC

ABD

ABE

ACD

ACE

ADE

ABCD

ABCE

ABCDE
