Priceline Hotel: 4* San Diego (Downtown-Harbor Island) Sheraton Marina

Bid history: 1st $60 with only downtown/harbor zone, 2nd $65 with downtown and Coronado, 3rd $70 with downtown, Coronado, and Escondido. Unfortunately won Sheraton Hotel and Marina at Harbor Island with the $70 per night for 2 nights on 3rd bid. Used the PRICELINE link on this site.

The one and only hotel I did not want just because of it's distance from Gaslamp. This was my very first use of Priceline and I did all my homework on this site before bidding and thought that, for sure, out of the 13 or 14 hotels I *could* get that it would be one closer to where we wanted to be. I guess it was too wishful of thinking. We just don't want to have to use the car once we get there, wanted to use public transport or walking, but now we are stuck driving all weekend. Ugh. Or paying taxi. Ugh. I guess I should have known better and paid another $20 per night using Hotwire and knowing I'd be in Gaslamp.

Now I feel stuck and I wish I could do what moonunit did and just forgo this hotel and forfeit my money but I don't have that in my budget. I was really looking forward to this weekend and really need it to destress but now I get to stress by driving everywhere. Joy.

Sorry to see you received the hotel you were hoping to avoid. Hopefully you can somehow still make this work well for your plans, and at least it was only for a two nite stay, and you've picked up some experience for your future bidding.

FWIW public transit is available from the hotel to the Gaslamp you can check google public transit directions. Its not necessarily convenient but if you really didn't want to drive or take a taxi it maybe usable.
