thereuare
These ameniteis are common for a 4* 'city' hotel, but this is a match for the Inter-Continental West so that would be my best guess. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Donnajs
Is Intercontinental West close to the Port of Miami? Link to comment
Donnajs
I called Intercontinetal west to find out how far they are away from the Port of Miami. They said about 30 minutes. They said they have a service that would take you there, but it would be $50 to $60. That seems pretty high to me. Does anyone know of other transportation that would be cheaper? Link to comment
AaronJB
I'm not entirely familiar with Miami, but I'm seeing that the Port of Miami is on Dodge Island (please correct me if I'm wrong), and if that's the case, then I would think downtown Miami would be a far better choice, as it appears much closer than the airport area. thereuare
The InterContinental West is located at 2505 NW 87th Ave, Miami, FL 33172 and is about 3-4 miles west of the Airport... whereas the cruise port is east of the airport (not a big deal, but trying to explain that you're on the 'other' side of the airport from the cruise terminal)A taxi from Miami Airport to the cruise terminal is a fixed rate of $24, so if you have 'managable' luggage, you could take the hotel's shuttle to the airport (limited service, only runs once per hour) and then take a fixed cost taxi to the cruise terminal for $24. Downtown is closer to the port, but at the moment rates appear to be somewhat high for your dates. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Froufie
I am in the same situation - trying to book 1 pre cruise night for the end of January. Would like ot stay downtown closer to port but hotels there are still running very high rates for that time period - there are some excellent deals in the airport area - free shutlle to and from airport - but getting to the cruise port can be costly. A shuttle can be arranged but a cab from there is 'metered' and could be expensive.I think we are doing as suggested above - getting back on hotel airport shuttle and taking the flat rate cab ride to the port! Almost as cheap as a shuttle and you can go whenever you please without having to wait for anyone! Link to comment

Almost as cheap as a shuttle and you can go whenever you please without having to wait for anyone! If you want to save some bucks you can take a public bus from the airport or get the free shuttle to the Tri-rail station and catch that and get off at the Metro Rail station and take that to a downtown stop. The Government station connects with the free People Mover. I have no clue what a cab would cost from downtown to the port, but can't imagine it would be too much as the port is basically downtown. Here is a link to Miami Dade Transport http://www.miamidade.gov/transit/faq.aspand to Tri-Rail http://www.tri-rail.com/And just discovered that there is a Seaport Connection bus that goes to the Port. http://www.miamidade.gov/transit/routes/route.asp?route=243Hope this helps.
