Hotwire Hotel: 4* Charleston (Downtown-Historic District) Holiday Inn Mills House

I tried for a 4-star up to $75 and got nothing. Went down to 3.5-star and started at $60 and got it (The Mills House Hotel is minimum $149 through their site). Of course, it's a Sunday, same-day, and I didn't even try anything lower than $60 (I know, not smart...I decided to believe the Priceline warning about $55 being a practically impossibly low price).

I am brand new here (joined a couple of days ago, to report my first successful bid), so forgive me if this isn't the right place or format to ask this question...

Did you specify just the downtown area when bidding? I would really like to get one night at the Mills House, and don't know how to increase the chances of getting them, so would like to know just how you bid.

Moved this to its own thread. There is no way to ensure getting a particular hotel via PRICELINE; if you bid for a 4* in a particular zone, for example, you can possibly get any of the 4*'s in that zone.

What is your date of travel and desired max bid?

I'd like to stay at the Mills House on Thursday, Sept. 24th. We actually have a free night there on Friday, the 25th, through their rewards club, then two days at Wild Dunes, booked via PRICELINE using the link on this site. Now we're thinking of adding a day at the beginning of the trip, and if possible, would like to stay at the Mills House, so we're not staying in 3 hotels over 4 nights. I honestly hadn't decided on a max bid, but have seen this hotel go for under $100, so that would be great.

You could try searching HOTWIRE and see if anything that matches previous reports for the Holiday Inn Mills House appears for your dates. You can see the previous amenities assocaites with this property by looking on the Hotwire Hotel List and we can then try to confirm it for you.

I've done a bit of research on here and it does look like HOTWIRE may be the way to go. I think I can ID the property, but right now, prices are too high for me. I'll keep watching it and post again if prices come down, to see if my best guess would be your best guess. When people have gotten great deals there on PRICELINE, it seems to be right before travel. So, I will keep checking, but realize we could be making a last minute decision.

I'll follow up with results if we do get that night.

Got that extra night (9/24) at the Mills House! I'd decided Hotwire was the way to go, and when I checked today, saw a 4* in the Historic District that seemed to fit the Mills House amenities. It was listed at $69 and I didn't think I could beat that on Priceline, plus was maybe taking a greater risk on the hotel.
