Hello,

I'm new to using PRICELINE.com and was wondering if anybody has had any success onf a 2-4 star hotel in SoHo/Times Square/Grand Central Station area during these periods. We're open to other areas but not Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, Long Island, and Harlem. I did a search but didn't find anything really close. We would prefer something close to the Subway and within a budget of no more than $125/night.

It will only be myself and my girlfriend traveling. We thought of trying to rent somebody's apartment but figured we should play it safe for now. If I go through a certain area (i.e. SoHo) and say there are only 17 hotels, if I were to throw in my own offer, will it only select a hotel within that list or is there some kind of Secret Option C hotel? Any tips/leads appreciated. Thanks!

The use Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins to search for thsi timeframe. I'll also mention that unless you have some insight as to the hotel you may likely be receiving, i'd be careful bidding less than 3* in NYC. While some budget property may be acceptable, there are some which likely are not, and with PRICELINE you can't choose which type you will get :)

Your budget is probably a little low for these dates (i'll check rates once you add a reply), but exactly which zone, by PRICELINE name, are you willing to accept?

It sounds as if you may be using the "retail" version of PRICELINE (where the name of the hotel is shown) to determine what you may get thru the opaque (ie- bidding) version of PRICELINE. If so, you shouldn't do this as the two arms of their service use a different universe of hotels, as per the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ. However, to further answer your question, you can't narrow down a list of potential hotels... you select the minimum star rating, bid amount, and the geographic region based upon PRICELINE's pre-defined zone boundaries... you're hotel can be located anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the zone.

Let us know the answers to any questions above and/or your updated thoughts based upon the above info and we'll take it from there.
