Priceline Hotel: Bid Help Needed - Kaanapali near blackrock 8/24-8/31/09

I'd really like to stay at the Sheraton Kaanapali or somewhere walking distance to blackrock. I see I could use 2 rebid zones and likely get the Sheraton or the Hyatt, but I think the Hyatt is way at the other end of the beach. Is there another hotel walking distance to blackrock that I can isolate easier? Does anyone know if the Priceline accomodations distinguish between the two - I see a 4* on Hotwire for 186 with Resort, Golf, HSI, Bus, Restaurant, Pool, FItness, Beach.

I also need to have room for 2 adults, 11yr old, and baby in a crib (we can suply). I know Priceline only guarantees a room for 2 adults. Has anyone ever had a problem getting a family of 4 into a Priceline hotel? I'm hoping that the resort rooms would all accomodate us. Should I have any concerns?

With PRICELINE there is no way to target, or avoid, a particular property or area within the zone... you need to be willing to accept a hotel anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the zone.

As well, as you point out PRICELINE only guarantees accomodations for double occupancy. It is possible that the hotel assigns you a room with only one bed and may be unable, or unwilling, to give you a room with two beds (or there may be an additional fee involved to do so)

For the HOTWIRE hotel above, does that appear when searching for 2adults/1child? If you go back to HOTWIRE and click the CONTINUE button next to this offering and then click the "See all amenities" link under the icons, do you see more amenities than what you've listed above?

Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.

OK, so sounds like I can't isolate the Sheraton from the Hyatt/Westin. Does anyone know of a hotel near blackrock that is the only one in its * class?

For the PL price I'd be willing to take any of the 3 and drive to blackrock, but I don't see how I can use Priceline if the front desk can reject our party. Are you saying Hotwire will guarantee it as long as I've searched that way? The Hotwire 4* is for $186 compared to others getting it for about $150.

On Hotwire those 8 attributes appear for 2 adults, 2 children. When I continue and click details it adds Tennis nearby, Spa services, Children's Activity Programs. From looking at the Hotwire hotels list on this board it seems that Laundry may have been removed from the Hyatt but there's a note about "VP showing laundry again" - what does that mean? So does that indicate the Hotwire posting is either the Sheraton or Westin based on laundry?

I saw one posting that included a TripAdvisor rating that was useful in ID'ing the Sheraton but I don't see that on Hotwire now. What I did notice is that a $30 / day resort fee will be collected. Do all of these resorts collect that or does that help ID it?

My last alternative is to book the Kaanapali Beach Club directly for $167/night. The rooms there are HUGE, nice, and the beach & beach are good, but it's not right on Kaanapali beach, ironicallly. I think there may be a $10/nt parking fee but no resort fee.

Even if you can find a hotel that is the only one in it's class, you still have the double/quad occupancy issue, and the fact that the star level you select is the minimum you are willing to accept... your bid could be upgraded to a higher level hotel.

HOTWIRE guarantees sleeping accomodations for everyone you include in your search (up to quad occupancy) Usually this means two beds in the room, but the 'second bed' could be a pullout sofabed, rollaway couch, etc.

The Hyatt charges a $15 resort fee while the Westin charges a $26 resort fee... this, along with the lack of a Laundry icon, would leave me to guess the above is more likely the Westin. (although i wouldn't complete rule out the Sheraton either (which also charges a $26 resort fee)... the Westin seems like the most likely choice, but the amenities associated with each of these properties are very similar that the inclusion/exclusion of just one amenity could change the 'best guess')
