Priceline Hotel: 4* Chicago (Millenium-Loop-Grant Park) Hyatt Regency

Coming in town for a show and the rates seem high. I tried today in the Grant Park and Mag Mile area upto $150.00 without luck. I would like to see if you know of any cancellable rooms for a decent rate that I could book and then try my luck as it gets closer.

Any suggestions?

Try Quickbook or GTA Hotels (at both most rates are cancellable, but doublecheck the terms of each as they have some which are not cancellable... Quickbook clearly shows this on the offering page, GTA Hotels you have to click the details and see the cancellation policy on the details/description page)

LastMinuteTravel now charges a $25 cancellation fee for most reservations, but if they have a good deal it may be worth the $12.50/nite 'insurance policy' given the very high rates you're currently seeing.

You are dealing with the National Restaurant Show, one of the city's biggest conventions, which takes place from the 17th-20th. So, the 19th is probably the reason why you're seeing very high rates. If you look at the 20th by itself, you'll find that rates are lower. While not exceedingly lower, they are lower. If you cannot move your trip up a day, you may want to consider booking two hotels near each other, as you may find a better deal that way. However, the 19th is probably going to be bad up until the show, and may even get worse as more attendees book rooms.

Thanks for the insight. I'm coming in for another show, All Candy Expo, that happens to be at the McCormick Center as well. I received an email on Friday about the NRA show and saw their projected numbers for attendees. Now I understand why the hotels are so expensive.

I put in a bid for $135.00 and it was accepted today. I should have started lower but I'm happy since this is a hotel on the show list and they have transportation from the hotel to the show. I decided to change the dates and come in on the 20th and leave the 21st because of the large convention in town.
