komputerguy
I'm going to honolulu from 2/22-3/1. Will I be able to use priceline to get a stay for that long? I'm hoping to get a hotel within walking distance of the ala moana shopping center as I have training there. Is the Prince hotel close enough? Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! You can use our Priceline Map for this area to see the location of the Prince Hotle relative to the Shopping Center. However, the problem is that you can't choose the hotel you receive; if you use priceline your hotel can be anywhere within the shaded region of the zone. I'd first determine if you can accept a hotel anywhere within the zone. If not, you may want ot consider HOTWIRE where you can often figure out the hotel being offered before yoru purchase based upon the amenities and the star rating (comparing them to our Hotwire Hotel List). The other option is that i would think there is pretty good bus service from the Waikiki area to the shopping center. I would call the center's general information line, ask which bus lines service the shopping center, and then see if any of those go thru the main thoroughfares of Waikiki. If so, i would think you'd be 'ok' with most zones in the Waikiki area (if you're willing to take the bus), although the North zone would obviously have you spending less time on the bus than if you landed in the South zone. What is your budget per nite for this stay? komputerguy
I'm looking at about $150 a day for the hotel. I'm going to try and get the Prince and if not the ala mona. Link to comment
thereuare
I'm going to try and get the Prince and if not the ala monaBut you can't target a specific property. If you're able to accept any hotel in the zone(s) that you bid, let us know which zone(s) you're willing to accept and your minimum star rating and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. komputerguy
I thought I had seen a strategy posted on here to get the Prince, is that not right? I can book the Ala Moana direct from another site unless you know what it shows up as on HOTWIRE. I tried to use the map for honolulu and nothing shows up but a blank google map...I thought the bid to get the prince goes something like this:4* add marinabid 1404* marina, add airportbid 1454* marina, airport, add city centralbid 150Is that not right? thereuare
You can't bid on a specific hotel. As per the Priceline Hotel List the Prince has been the only 4* hotel reported to the board... but there could be others (not yet reported) or you could also be upgraded to a Resort property. Likewise hotels reported thru HOTWIRE, and the amenities associated with them, are in the Hotwire Hotel List.Thru which site, and for how much, are you seeing the Ala Moana? komputerguy
Their own hotel site has the room for $149.99 a night. I'm not worried about getting upgraded to a beach property like the hyatt regency :) Link to comment
thereuare
If you'd like to bid, did you only want to bid the North zone? What is your maximum bid at the 4* level? komputerguy
I'm going as high as $150 and will start with resort then go to 4* if it doesn't work Ill just buy direct from them. Any tips on how I should go through the priceline bid? Link to comment
thereuare
At the Resort and 4* levels you have five re-bid zones availalble. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select Marina...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $125, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select Marina and re-bid zone5...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $150You can go thru the above at the Resort level, if rejected, repeat at the 4* level.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes.
