I stayed one night at this Crowne Plaza on September 12 with a winning bid of $39 (bid for 2.5* but upgraded to this hotel). I had stayed the previous night down the block at the Residence Inn.

This hotel is conveniently located at the junction of I-5 and highway 217 in Lake Oswego. It is easily seen from the I-5 heading in either direction. Despite being directly above the highway, the noise was not bothersome. It is convenient to an Applebees, Stanfords, and Olive Garden.

Upon check-in very early at 10:30am, there was no mention of Priceline. I had called in advance for a king non-smoking room and it was indeed noted on my reservation. I was told that there were no regular king non-smoking rooms available at that time but I could have either an accessible king non-smoking or a regular non-smoking room with two queen beds. I chose the former and was assigned to room 501.

The lobby apparently used to have a large waterfall but was just finishing up renovations to make a smaller waterfall and some chairs and table in the atrium. The Revenue Manager, who checked me in, told me that this was set up as people requested to use the area for wedding receptions and also so that the hotel could be used it as banquet space. I notcied that there was a large bowl of Washington Red Delicious apples at the front desk daily.

The hallways in this hotel were quite dim. When I arrived at the room, I noticed that it was labeled

I stayed two nights again at this hotel on November 19 and 20 with a winning bid of $39/night.

After winning the bid, I called the hotel and asked for a non-smoking room. I was very rudely told that Priceline customers get a run of the house room, that I was assigned a smoking room, that it looked very full for my dates and I would probably be denied my request, and that I should have booked directly through the hotel instead of booking through Priceline. I thought this was most inappropriate.

However, when I checked in at about 4:00pm, I was greeted by the most friendly front staffperson who assigned me to a "non-smoking" room on the 6th floor. Unfortunately, when I opened the door of the room, I could tell that someone had been smoking in it (even though the room was marked as non-smoking on the computer). I went back to the frontdesk and asked for a different room, and to my surprise she happily obliged with a different room on the 5th floor. This room was indeed non-smoking but was facing the I-5 and was quite noisy. Therefore I went back to the front desk and really pushed my luck by asking for a quieter room. Without much hesitation, I was cheerfully given the room 410 - which was quiet and non-smoking! I also forgot my comb and toothbrush and had to go back to the front desk to ask for these things, and the same lady was again pleasant and helpful.

This room was much smaller than the wheelchair-accessible Continental Suite in which I had stayed in September. The shower head was poor in that very little water came out. The only other complaint would be the TV cabinet. It was facing the loveseat and was perpendicular to the bed, but the television could not slide out or rotate. This made it difficult to watch TV from the bed. Other than these minor details my stay was again very pleasant. Instead of apples at the front desk they had oranges this time. There was a two for one coupon for Basil's restaurant in the lobby in the folder in the room, which I had not noticed in my previous stay.

There have been a few reports of maltreatment to Priceline guests in Tripadvisor reviews, and I was disappointed to get the nasty attitude over the phone. I was quite surprised and glad that the in-person treatment was much warmer.

Of note, Washington Square nearby has added many new stores, including Oregon's only Cheesecake Factory, Oregon's largest Nordstrom store, Sephora, and others.

I just completed another 2-night stay at this hotel on a $44 bid. I'm a bit sad to see this property go over the $40 threshold.

I called in advance asking for king non-smoking and got the usual "you booked on Priceline, so you get run of the house". At least this time they were pleasant about it and told me to check in early to get a good room. I ended up with room 203, which was non-smoking, king, and the only minor dislike about this room was that it partially faced the I-5 and was a bit noisier (but bearable). The remote control for the television was nowhere to be found but the front desk quickly sent one up. Only once in three days did I see apples at the front desk. There were no teabags in the room either (not sure if this is new or I just never noticed before).

Other than these comments, the stay was as comfortable as the previous two times. I still think it's one of the best values in the Portland area, and convenient to everything.

The office manager of this hotel was exceptional. He explained that with HW and PL rates, they cannot guarantee the number of beds available. We booked and expected two double beds but when we checked in, we were told only one King was available with a sofa bed.

We went to check-in to that room and it didnt have a very good view, actual it was a horrible view of the highway. I got the impression it indeed was for HW or PL customers not guests paying the higher or rack rates. This seems to echo other guest's comments about their stay when booking through HW or PL bidding sites. I can't really fault the hotel for doing this since it really is "you get what you pay for".

Fortunately, there was a last minute cancellation and we were given another room with two double beds. The beds were very comfortable and linen fresh. The carpeting throughout the hotel was quite dated and needed shampooing. The room was cleaned quite well. The only exception about the room were two things: the toilet seat was broken from it's hinges and air conditioner unit. I am not sure, but it may be tripped or activated by opening the room door. One night, it stopped working completely and it couldnt turn it on no matter what, until I opened and closed the room door. There is no in-room safe.

The weight room is small as already stated, the machines are new but need some maintenance as some buttons aren't working. The swimming pool is semi covered/semi indoors. It is nicely heated. Area is quite small. Not much sun exposure.

The location of the hotel is close to many amenities. Olive Garden is behind the hotel. There was no issue with highway noise, even when the A/C was off.

We would stay again at this hotel, however, we may try the neighbouring hotes as they are also located in this "hotel zone" .
