momwants2travel
Hi,I'm traveling to Hawaii with my two kids and we already have reservations booked from January 8 - 12 at the Kauai Beach Resort. However, we are arriving a day earlier and I'd like to try and score the Hyatt. I noticed some people were getting it for $140 - $170 but I haven't been successful for a 1 day booking in that range. Does anyone have any experience when the Hyatt starts releasing their rock bottom rates (pending availability). Link to comment

momwants2travel
Okay, I did those things and will use the links when trying for hotel rooms and cars. Link to comment
thereuare
Few issues...First, realize that PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. If this is not a risk you're willing to accept, HOTWIRE may still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)Also, you can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE. While the Grand Hyatt is the only 'known' hotel at the Resort level in this zone, new hotels can be added/upgraded at any time and you could receive something other than what you expect. With all of the above noted, the Grand Hyatt is $400+ for your nite above, which is indicative of high demand at this property (well, it's not indicative of low demand) and discounts of 50% or more are much less likely in such situations. You can certainly try, and demand can certainly change in the weeks ahead, but with current rates over $400/nite i think a win at $170 or less is going to be an uphill battle... is $170 your maximum bid for this nite? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
