Priceline Hotel: Help needed! Traveling 10th May 2012 to 17th May 2012

Hi,

Would like to request some help. Am traveling from 10th May 2012 to 17th May 2012 and am looking for suitable accommodation (3* to 4*) in NYC.

Not too certain about the prime locations in NYC, but primarily looking at the following areas:

1. Downtown Soho

2. Times Square

3. Midtown south

4. Midtown West

5. Midtown East

6. Upper Midtown

Are these good locations?

My budget ranges from $100 - $130 USD. I've browsed through this forum and noted some success with Four Points by Sheraton (Soho) at $94, $120 for Flatotel, $110 for The Alex and $130 for Intercontinental The Barclay - hoping that I'll get lucky with this budget as well.

Lastly, am I disadvantaged by bidding for such a long duration? Would a more appropriate strategy be to break up my stay at two different hotels?

Thanks for your help!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Rates are date specific and your dates are historically during a very busy time in NYC. You probably won't be able to duplicate the other winning bid prices you've quoted, which i'm assuming are likely more for the winter months, which are 'low season' in NYC. It's worth trying, but $130 would be near the bottom of the range of an expected winning bid for these dates (most likely for a 3* hotel).

Regarding zones, where are you getting those zone names as those are not the names used by PRICELINE, so i'm not 100% certain which zone(s) you're considering bidding. If you enter 'New York City' in the search box on the top right corner of the board you'll be taken to a page with the zone names that PRICELINE uses to divide this region.

Would a 15 minute walk to the subway be acceptable? What about a notoriously small room (even by NYC standards, ~140 square feet)?

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

Let us know the information above and we'll take it from there.

Actually here is the Priceline win i was referencing - the only difference being perhaps the duration of the stay (2 days vs 7 days). Anyway it is still worth a shot, right? :)

Sorry I was using a non-US website because I am not a US citizen. Should I be using the PRICELINE.com website instead?

A 15 min walk to the subway would not be preferred, nor a notoriously small room - are those my only options given my budget?

It's worth a shot, but your dates are very different than those in the thread you reference. That win is for a one nite stay, a Sunday nite (the the slowest nite for hotels in NYC), whereas your trip si for a full week.

The issue is that if these are not acceptable then when bidding less than 4* in NYC you need to avoid the MTE and CPS zones entirely.
