Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

Are you bidding for both the River North-NMA and Millennium Park-Loop-Grant Park areas?

The Lollapalooza Music Festival is happening on this particular weekend, so rates are significantly higher than normal. What would be your desired budget for the night? Available downtown properties on HOTWIRE are around $220 up to $300.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

yes ive bid both and still no luck. I forgot that lollapalooza was that weekend. Any suggestions on what to do? I really cant spend more than 120-130 on a room for the night. It doesnt even have to be a nice room, just need it to be downtown or close because i am taking the megabus out on the 6th at 4pm and dont want to waste the whole day just getting to the bus station.

pwrmaster7,

Please read your messages and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board for your future bidding, searches and travel purchases.

Given the concert i'm not sure you're going to find anything downtown within your budget unless you find a hotel at the last minute with a high number of unexpected cancellations (and even they might hold onto the rooms themselves if they think they'll be able to sell them at full price to walk-in customers at the last minute).

I'm sure AaronJB knows, but where exactly is the MegaBus stop?

Thanks.

The Megabus stop in Chicago is at Union Station, which is at the west boundary or so of the Loop area.

As noted above, I think it's going to be difficult to get a property downtown within budget and the hope is that traffic may lighten up towards the date/s of travel. I think this stay is unfortunately going to require persistently bidding towards your max in the hopes that inventory will open up at these levels.

I would actually recommend not bidding 2* if possible and I think the Millennium Park-Loop-Grant Park area is going to be tougher because that's the area that fills up fastest because everyone going to Lollapalooza wants to be closer. The NMA-River North area is generally (by comparison) less busy during the festival.

Worst case scenario, the Staybridge Suites Glenview is $109 (and Orbitz coupon code ORBITZ5 should take 5% off). That is not far from the Metra station in Glenview (half a mile, according to Google Maps) - you would take the Metra there and back, and that is about a 40 minute trip or so (although the Metra trains are much nicer than the CTA trains.)

The train to Glenview leaves from Union Station, so you'd be leaving/departing to Glenview from where the Megabus stop is.

One other hotel possibility in the burbs is the Embassy Suites Deerfield, which is $84.95 on Orbitz (and coupon ORBITZ5 takes 5% off). The only issue with that property is that you would need to use the hotel shuttle, as I don't think one could walk it from the nearest Metra station. The station nearest that hotel is a couple of stops North of the Glenview station mentioned above, so same train line. That is a very nice Embassy Suites property, with a river/koi pond in the middle. The Orbitz listing also notes in the description: Complimentary shuttle service to the MetraRail Lake Cook Road Station.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE, PRICELINE and Orbitz links to start your purchases and searches.

Using your site's links I have bid up to 150 dollars with no success for river north/mag mile/greater chicago. I am staying at the hyatt regency on wacker from 7/30 to 8/5. I really dont want to take a train all the way to say ohare on friday night because that will kill my last night in town, but i also cant afford 200 dollars for a hotel room. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I have even bid as low as a 2 star.
