Hello,

I have been a passive member of this site since 2009; I have used it to form bid strategies but I don't think I was rather efficient in my methods. I am writing today to see if someone can help with a bid strategy for bidding on 4* hotels in London, England for Sept. 9 to Sept 18. I am looking to stay in downtown/central London close to the sights. In terms of priceline zones I am willing to stay in are as follows:

Bloomsbury

Mayfair/Soho

Regents Park

The City & London Bridge

I am not familiar with London, England and have selected the zones above from internet research. But i am open to suggestion, in fact, i prefer any and all suggestions with regards to an ideal location.

Please help!

Thanks,

Chetan Jivani

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

Please provide your desired max bid per night, and we would be happy to offer suggestions on how to proceed. Additionally, given the length of the stay, splitting your stay between two properties may be a benefit, depending on pricing for the time period. Would you be willing to split your stay, if it would be of benefit?

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Others more familiar with this area can chime in, but i would double check "The City-London Bridge" as i believe this is usually looked to as more of a value play then a first choice.

Mayfair/Soho is likely bid the most frequently (although not always successfully) and then zones East of there, such as Notting Hill and Kensington, are often looked at.

Please confirm the zones you're willing to accept and we'll advise accordingly.

Thank you for your response, thereuare.

I was wondering about the "City-London Bridge" zone. Let's take that off as an option. As for the zones that I am interested in are:

Bloomsbury

Mayfair/Soho

Kensington

Notting Hill

Regents Park

I appreciate all your advice/help.

Thanks

You know I have been looking at the London areas for a friend and wanted to use that strategy, and although I was leaning towards Knightsbridge, it is lumped in with Chelsea. I was concerned that they would push me into the 4 star that is way over by the harbor, which is out in no man's land. The reviews were bad for the location being far and I see that both Priceline and Hotwire are pushing this particular hotel. Hotwire lists it as their hidden hotel in Knightsbridge. So didn't want to end up there. So now aiming for the Mayfair and Kensington to stay central. Even Notting Hill (although lovely) seems like it will be a ways off if one wants to be close on foot? What do you do when there are only two choices of places and they all have four stars?

The hotel name I am refering to is the Pestana Chelsea Bridge Hotel and Spa. It's a lovely hotel with one bedroom suites for the price, but it's very far and everyone says that they have to take cabs. That is the only thing keeping me from bidding on that area.

There are several hundred reviews for this hotel on Hotels.com and tripadvisor.com. Very positive.

The hotel web site says:

"The hotel offers easy access to key bus and train routes and is within walking distance to Sloane Square and Victoria Station."

I do know Brit usage of walking distance is not quite the US usage of walking distance, but maybe a read through those reviews or an email to the hotel to get the exact distances might help you?
