LookingForATrip
I will be in New York from June 21-23. I need a hotel for two nights and a car for three days. I would like to stay in a 3+/4. It does't really matter where as long as we are not to far from the city. I would prefer in the city or around the JFK or LGA areas. HOTWIRE has such packages for around $400. Is there any way to do better? If so, please explain. Link to comment

LookingForATrip
We have a wedding in Lakewood, NJ on Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday are mainly vacation with some meetings. Some of the meetings will be in Queens and Long Island. The most ideal location would be in Queens, but close to Manhattan.Thank you for your help! Link to comment

LookingForATrip
LGA. Ravel in Long Island City (4 star). This hotel looks nice, and I would prefer that one. I actually tried to purchase the Hotwire package (2 nights plus rental car for $398), but when I would get to the last step, it told me that no rooms were available. I did a new search later in the day, the Ravel was still there, but same results. Then, I found your site. There were also some Crown Plazas (3+ stars).Thank you! Link to comment
thereuare
The reviews of the Ravel Hotel look a bit mixed, imo. However, may be a moot point since it doesn't appear to be bookable. What time(s) do you need to pick-up/drop-off the car? Do you have meetings on Wednesday as well or could you possible drop-off the car Tuesday nite? LookingForATrip
We get in early Monday morning around 9:30 am, and leave late Wednesday night at 9:00 pm. So, we need a car for 3 full days. We do have meetings on Wednesday. Link to comment
thereuare
HOTWIRE has a compact car for $57/day or $227 all-in. You can probably do a little better on PRICELINE, but we'll use this figure as the "worse case scenario" for the rental.HOTWIRE has a well rated (4.0/5.0 Tripadvisor) 2.5* property in Long Island City for $87/nite ($215 all-in) which would bring your grand total to $442There is also a 2.5* LGA property for $93 which would add about $10 to the total above.Just like with the car rental, if you go with PRICELINE, you may be able to do a little better, but the above would give you an idea of your 'worst case scenario' if you choose to try bidding on PRICELINE for each component of your trip. Of course you could go a little higher than the above prices to try for a higher rated hotel as well.Thoughts? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
