suntex
Hey,Its me again. I was wondering if anyone can give me a ballpark range of the prices of 4* rooms in NYC (Madison Square ,MTE, MTW, Time Square) for 5/17~5/20?I need two rooms. Thanks for the help. Link to comment
thereuare
You're probably looking north of the $200 mark... maybe close to $250. However, i wouldn't start there as i'd begin lower and work your way up.Is this within your expected budget for a hotel for these nites? If you let us know your maximum bid we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. suntex
Hey,Thanks for your help. I was thinking of aiming for 140~160 range. If not possible during that time of year, I'll probably drop to maybe a 3 or 3.5 star hotel. Thanks Link to comment
thereuare
If you want to try for a 4* hotel first up to your limit, did you want to also include the CPS and ESB zone(s) to increase your chances by giving more hotels the ability to accept your bid... or did you only want to try for the MTE, MTW, and TS zones (there are no 4* hotels in the MSG zone)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. suntex
I think ESB and CPS are acceptable as well. I guess MSG would be for a 3 or a 3.5* if I can't get anything for my budget. Link to comment
thereuare
I think your budget is going to be tough for a 4* (and possibly for a 3.5*) but we'll start with a 4* and take it from there....At the 4* level you have SIX re-bid zones. (NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* MTE, MTW, CPS, ESB and TS...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. suntex
ok, so I tried the four stars up to 170 and nothing. I was looking through IHG's website for friends and family discount and found that the going published rate on their sites are as follows for NYC hotels:2 double beds:Holiday Inn downtown / Soho : $168.Holiday Inn Express Time Square : $189Holiday Inn Express Madison Square Garden :$186Holiday Inn 6ave : $ 204Would you think these rates are comparable to what is expected if I use bidding on Priceline? Or would I be able to get lower prices on the respective zones and star level? Thanks Link to comment
thereuare
The above are generally 3* rated properties... HOTWIRE has what i believe to be the Ramada New Yorker (3.5* on HOTWIRE... 3* on PRICELINE) for $189/nite and gets good reviews since their recent renovation.Given that PRICELINE is usually a little cheaper than HOTWIRE, i suspect that you can do a little better than the rate above, but there would be no way of knowing if this would be the same hotel you'd likely receive... you could receive any 3* rated hotel in the zone if you decide to bid. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. (or if you go with one of the properties above, please use our Holiday Inn or Holiday Inn Express link to begin your purchase)Let us know what you decide and/or how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.
