Wise Enough
Hi everyone,I've never used priceline and I'm so glad there's this awesome forum to help me work out how to do it. I'm going to New York for the first time and looking at staying in a central area (TS, MTE, MTW). I'm after 4* and my max budget is $150 a night, which I guess won't include the charges (how much are they?). My dates are checking in August 3 and checking out August 11. I'm thinking perhaps I should change location half way through, but I'm open to opinions on that. Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding!Although this is somewhat of an extended stay, summer is low season in NYC, and you may be able to get a 4* hotel at $150 or under for your complete stay... do you prefer to change hotels mid-stay or prefer one hotel for the entire length of your stay? Also, is there a reason you're not including CPS and/or ESB in your bidding, as these zones typically work out well for the average visitor too.NYC hotel tax is 14.5% and PRICELINE will add a booking fee which is ~$5/nite on an 8 nite booking. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know regarding the zone(s) and splitting the bid and we'll advise accordingly. Wise Enough
Willing to try the other zones, such as ESB and CPS if you guys think thats central enough for the average tourist. If I can get a hotel for that amount of time I'd probably prefer not to change, I'm pretty lazy! I guess I'm after *s first, location second, and price third. And ideas what I should start bidding at for what zones? I really apprectiate your help. I didn't realise it was low season then. Link to comment

abridgel
I am looking to stay in the NYC area around this same time and looking for a 4*Is there an advantage to switching your hotels mid-week? Link to comment

Depending on budget, dates and other factors, there are times when it's best to split the stay between two hotels.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Wise Enough
I ended up with the Angonquin for $180. Not the best bargain around, probably would have been better on HOTWIRE. I just lost patience and upped my PRICELINE bid. Seems central, so thats good. Link to comment
thereuare
Congratulations on your success! While not your ideal result, glad to see you're happy with the location can can make this property work well for your needs. This is an older property with a LOT of literary history... do try to have a drink in the lobby bar to take in the scene, and then you can try the lobby bar at the Royalton across the street a completely different vibe.Thank you for sharing your win with the board. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.
