Hello all,

I've been a frequent visitor to this site for the past couple of months. I find this site to be extremely helpful as I have used the suggestions to book the Venetian back on 12/11-12/13 (of 2004) for $99.

I will be going out west again (I live in the Midwest), but this time to a conference in Los Angeles. I am traveling with two colleagues and we decided to extend our trip to include Las Vegas. We will be flying into Vegas on 4/13/05 and I pricelined the Venetian for $99 that night. We will be driving to Los Angeles (have driven this route before and it's very beautiful) on the 14th and we will be returning to LV on the 17th for 3 nights (originally two). I originally booked the Barbary Coast (through their website) for $70/night for two nights. However, we extended our trip a night. Then I found a killer deal on Orbitz for a player

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Please post the details of your previous Venetian win in a new post... as a frequent visitor you know how important it is for users to post their winning bid info in order to help others :)

April in Vegas can be cold or hot, but just as an FYI the Barbary Coast does not have a pool... in case that is important to you (not sure about the Casino Royale)

HOTWIRE has what is likely the Boardwalk for about $100/nite. Although not my first choice of hotel, which which the REVIEWS have been getting better since they changed hands.

How about off-strip for the 2nd part of your stay... some good deals downtown.

There are good deals downtown, but we would rather stay on the strip.

Based on location and price, there are three hotels that fit my criteria.

Casino Royale - $60/night

Imperial Palace - $80/night

Barbary Coast - $90/night

Does anyone have an opinion on which hotel is best? I appreciate all your help.

Hi! I've stayed at the Barbary Coast a few times, and it really isn't bad! It doesn't look all that grand from the outside, and it is a small property, but the rooms are very clean and comfortable, and they're quite nicely decorated. Last time I stayed there, they upgraded us to a suite for no reason, and that was very nice. The furnishings are all new and comfy.

I've stayed at the Imperial Palace a lot, and it's decent, but the Barbary Coast is actually much nicer. I haven't stayed at the Casino Royale, but I'm going to guess that it's not so hot. I'd recommend sticking with the Barbary Coast, and ask to see if an upgrade is available when you check in - I've heard of other people getting upgraded too. The location is unbeatable, and it's a fun little casino.

By the way, I don't know if I'm supposed to talk about other websites here, but www.cheapovegas.com has hilarious and very accurate reviews of all the hotels on the Strip and downtown. :) Have fun in Vegas!

One more thing - if you do end up staying at the Imperial Palace, the self-parking lot is terrrrrible. You'll have to walk 15 minutes to get to the hotel, and you may have a hard time finding your way back. Use the valet parking if you can - it's worth it!

Oh, one more thing... since you're driving back and forth to LA - if you get hungry, stop at the Mad Greek in Baker. It's a really campy, fun little place with great Greek food and fresh fruit shakes. They also have burgers, fries, quesadillas, a bunch of other stuff... it's a must stop for me and my friends every time we go to Vegas (3 times in January!). :)

Reviews of Each:

Barbary Coast

Imperial Palace

Casino Royale

A few years ago this would have been an easy "Barbary Coast" as the winner. This is probably still the best choice of the group listed above (as henious mentions), but the Imperial Palace reviews have been improving over the last year or so. The first two are probaby much better than the Casino Royale.

In order for me to book any of the hotels previously listed, I would have to book through a third party (e.g., Expedia), which charges a cancellation fee. Where may I book a fully refundable room, so that I may keep monitoring rates? I've checked the hotel websites, but they either are sold out or are not offering the cheapest rates.

There's a convention in town that week (National Association of Broadcasters) and I've gone to their website (nab.org). It seems as though you could book a room through the association even if you're not a member. The rates are a lot cheaper. First, has anyone done this before? And, what do you think of their rates? You can go on their site and check out what's available or I can just post them here. Let me know.

That's a good deal, but it locks you in, as you'd then have to beat this deal by $40 (just to break even).

The Aladdin is definately a nicer properties than the others that you're considering, but it call boils down to your budget and what type of properties you are accustomed to staying in.
