Priceline Hotel: NYC 2 Nights 5/9

I have been using this website for booking now for over a year with much success - so, first I want to say thanks for all your wonderful information - you've saved me lots of $ and we've enjoyed great hotels. NYC is a little more intimidating to me and I don't have the time to spend researching all the options. We will be arriving on Sunday, 5/9 and need two nights. There are three adult women, so most likely we will want to bid for two rooms to ensure enough beds...it'll be nice to have two bathrooms as well. We will be doing the usual tourist highlights. Arriving and leaving through Penn Station. Broadway play, harbor cruise, etc. I would like 4* and wb willing to pay up to $250 for both rooms per night. Need great location, clean and comfortable beds. Can you help me with bidding strategy with zones and amounts? Thanks for your expert advice!

As far as zone(s) are concerned, MTE, MTW, CPS, TS, and ESB typically all work out fine for the average visitor... but you should look at zones, and the reported hotels within them, to confirm that each will work for your plans this trip.

If bidding for two rooms is your maximum bid $125/nite per room or is that you're 'all-in' amount (including taxes and fees)

Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly.

I am open to suggestions. I would not want to limit our options by staying at $125 - we will bid up higher in order to have two rooms and staying in nice location/hotel. My best thought on budget would be total of $600 for two nights/two rooms including fees, etc. although if this is unrealistic, please let me know.

I have a cancellable reservation for 2 nights 1 room of almost $300 with taxes and fees. I am open to any zone that would be close to get around town and safe. Thanks

I think a maximum bid price of $150, rather than an all-in price, is probably more realistic for a 4* property for these dates.

I'll suggest a strategy up to $150 and you can stop at whatever bid you feel comfortable with.

At the 4* level you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Update on our plans for NYC. I've noticed the Monday night rate jumps up from the Sunday night rate considerably. We are currently booked at the Hampton Inn Times Square North for these nights - cancellable reservations with rates as follows. There are three adults - so we were looking for either two rooms (to ensure enough beds) or as with this hotel - two queen beds would work out nicely.

Rates: 5/9 - 234.10

5/10 - 284.05

$590.10

Please post any suggestions or comments you may have to improve our first time visit to the big Apple. Thanks!

Searching HOTWIRE for 3 adults there are plenty of options at the 3*-3.5* level which are within your budget... it's up to you whether you want to spend a similar amount for a higher rated hotel OR go for a similarly rated property for a little less.

Only caveat is that HOTWIRE will guarantee sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search, but type is not guaranteed... the second 'bed' could be a pullout sofabed, rollaway brought into the room, etc. Would this be acceptable for your plans?

For 10% more you can get what appears to be the 4* rated Crowne Plaza in Times Square ($655 all-in).

If you prefer to be closer to your current price, what appears to be the Roosevelt, Doubletree Metropolitan, or the Hilton Manhattan East (previously the Tudor Hotel) is available for $550 all-in.

The Ramada New Yorker (Chelsea) is $610 all-in.

The Holiday Inn 57th (MTC) St is $450 all-in.

The Holiday Inn Sixth Avenue (Chelsea) is $457 all-in.

Any of the above of interest?
