This is certainly an excellent deal for this Embassy Suites property, which is in a really nice part of the city. As mentioned in other posts, Fox and Obel Market and Cafe is an excellent choice a couple of blocks East on Illinois and McClurg (definitely a pleasant place to even just browse around, and they do open for breakfast.) There's also a huge Dominicks Grocery across the street (cheap snacks/drinks.) Tons of restaurants nearby, too.

Wanted to do a follow up to my stay. Parking, always a problem in Chicago and valet is $48/night (I believe); for $24/24hr you can park in the NBC lot catty-corner from the hotel (southwest). Open air, but after 2 nights, you can save enough for a decent lunch.
