The hotel was a customer favourite and displayed the icons CasinoRestaurantPoolFitness CentreSpaHighspeed InternetGolf nearbyTennis NearbyBusiness CentreDoes anyone know if this is likely to be the Venetian or the Bellagio. Also is it worth hanging on a bit longer is the rate likely to go downThanks Link to comment

So feel a little uncomfortable bidding on the 'unknown' So in your opinion if I were to bid on Priceline for a 5* Strip hotel I would be bidding for either Venetian or Bellagio (probably). Either would be acceptable. Stayed at the B and it was beautiful but would really like to try the V if poss.Thanks Link to comment

If there ever was a sure thing as to the hotel you could win this is it. If you bid make sure you know what the free rebids are and if your not sure don't be afraid to ask. Link to comment

Most of the time the best rates come 2-4 weeks before the stay. I would try to low ball ($120-$140)this bid for a few weeks and see what happens. See if you get a counter offer,that will give you a good idea of where PLs rates are right now. If you do get a counter offer you can always beat their offer so reject it and use a free rebid. johnp012001 Posted January 16, 2005 Report Share Posted January 16, 2005 Priceline is definately the place to get a better price on a 5* in Vegas. 75% of the time when I've looked Hotwire's price has been higher, or within $1 of venetian.com rates. I still think this is deceptive, as hotwire is setting their price lower to satisfy their low price guarantee, but your overall cost is greater than booking direct. Then I'm sure that since they are selling a posted rate, they are probably getting a comission from the hotel as well. Now they're making more than another travel agent making the same booking. cbird Posted January 17, 2005 Author Report Share Posted January 17, 2005 Have booked Radisson in Waikiki as a back up. Rate of 160$. But intend to cancel and go with either Hotwire or Priceline. Hotwire are offering Waterfront customer favourite 4.5 star for 133$ at the moment which seems a good deal. Not made a decision on Maui yet. Will book direct with Westin (286$ spg rate) and wait to see if hotwire rate for 4.5 or 5 comes down.Aside from that have booked Crowne Plaza at 114$ in Beverly Hills as it seems difficult to work out which hotels are ofered by Hotwire there. Also booked MGM Grand in LV some time ago as back up.This site is really useful and I have recommended it to my friends Link to comment

This seems a good deal. Does anyone know if it is likely to go down? Also in the final amount payable is the tax charged by Hotwire the room tax or something else. Am a Hotwire Novice. I am booked there through Hotwire for $117 / night for 4/3/2005 for 2 nights. I checked the hotel website and they are offering $169, so looks like I got a decent deal. In fact Hotwire is now showing $119 for those same dates. On the other hand, you may be able to get a better deal through Priceline - but no guarantee. Luckily (well, sort of) since I am in Canada I can't use Priceline anyway so I don't have to struggle between who might give me a better deal.All this being said, check the Venetian website and see what they're offering for those nights. Plus since your stay includes a Friday, I would try breaking up the dates and see if the rates come out any different. Weekend rates in Vegas sometimes are so insane.Good luck. Link to comment

As suspected if you only stay there for the first 3 nights it's coming up at $114, which I honestly doubt will go much lower. It is the Venetian after all.If you're not hung up on staying through the whole 4 nights I'd probably go for the first 3 there, and find something else for the Friday night. Friday night alone is coming up at $226 on Hotwire. As nice as the hotel is IMO it's just a bit pricey.In any case, yes the final Hotwire price includes all taxes, except for incidentals like parking, room service, etc.Good luck. Link to comment

From the informatiion given by others on this board I could almost certainly get the Venetian much cheaper from Pricelineso will need to decide if I am going to take the chance or go for Hotwire.The Venetian direct would cost me 766$ for the period wheras Hotwire would cost 576$ still a very good saving as I dont really want to split the nights.Hope you enjoy your trip Link to comment
