fesa
Dear all,We (my girlfriend and I) have unsuccessfully been trying to bid for a 4* hotel room in NYC for the dates September 17th to September 22nd and would ask for your help here.We Link to comment
AaronJB
Welcome to Betterbidding! :)September in NYC is generally busy with conventions and tourist traffic (nice weather), although if Fashion Week is the week before, then that should not have an effect on rates. Rates are definitely on the higher side for these dates though (w/4*'s being $300+ across the board on Orbitz.)I think there are two possible approaches:1. Keep trying every few (3-4 days) up to $185 in the hopes that inventory becomes available. If there is something going on on these dates (such as a convention, which might explain the high rates) rates could eventually go higher.2. Work further up to $200 (and it may take a bit more than that) in an attempt to lock in something now. If you were able to get a 4* for $200, based upon the rates I'm seeing for 4*'s right now, that would be a good deal. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. fesa
Thanks Aaron! We followed your advice and worked up further to $200 and we suceeded!! The Bryant Park Hotel (I guess this must be zone TSQ) for $205. As far as I can see, that hotel has never been reported yet, has it? Anyway, according to the website the rates are 300+ so, I guess we made a good deal. An the location looks to be awesome, only a couple of blocks south of Times Square and only a couple of steps to 5th Avenue.Tripadvisor has it ranked at No.10 of all hotels in NYC. Is anyone familiar with this hotel?BTW: we used the board PRICELINE-link! Link to comment

fesa
I just checked at Priceline - it is a 4* property in the Empire State Building area (although I would say it is nearer to TSQ than to ESB). AaronJB
That could not have been a better result - what a great deal for a quite well-reviewed and famed boutique property! :) Link to comment
