I used the Better Bidding HOTWIRE link to book. Thanks so much for such a great site. I usually only book 4* hotels when I go through opaque booking sites like HOTWIRE or PRICELINE. However, thanks to Better Bidding, I felt confident going for a 3.5* because I suspected that the hotel would end up being the lakefront Embassy Suites - which it did! I'm super happy with the $69 rate, and I'm looking forward to a week in Chicago without breaking the bank!

Additionally, there's also a large grocery across the street (Dominick's) for cheaper snacks/drinks, which you can store in the room's refrigerator.

Also, I highly recommend Fox and Obel Market and Cafe (fox-obel.com), which is a couple of blocks East, at the corner of Illinois and McClurg.
