Priceline Hotel: 3.5* Monterey-Carmel (Monterey) Portola Hotel and Spa

Rack rate was $219 so wasn't expecting this hotel. Only had yesterday evening to bid, so bid $60 - no, $70 - no, $80 - no, finally accepted on $85 for one night and then extended for a second night.

Nice hotel with big gym. They charge for internet which is a pain but you can get free on street parking if you walk about 4 blocks north up the hill.

Monterey is lovely and you can see Sea Lions basking on a platform right by the harbour.
