nyfirefly11
So I usually get the Hyatt in Princeton for $41. When I bid, it said it couldn't fulfill the request, but if I increased my bid by $12 it would be accepted. So I bid $53, and got the Marriott in Trenton. I can't say I'm super psyched - I like the Hyatt, and I probably would've even preferred the Hyatt Place in Princeton, but so it goes. The hotel seems to have gotten decent review on Trip Advisor.I used the PRICELINE links. Link to comment
HV777
Quite a shocker! I also bid for 9/22-23/09 for Princeton, hoping to get usual Hyatt Regency @41. Not accepted, so increased my bids and got Marriott Trenton @45, -- the most inconvenient. I wonder if bidding for Princeton East would assure better results. Link to comment
nyfirefly11
Wow, you got the Marriott for $45? I actually just called and they let me cancel - if I rebook, I can get the cancellation fee waived, minus $25. I thought I would try again for $41, and I also tried for $38 at 3 star, but no dice. I may try Princeton East. Link to comment
HV777
Such a predicament! Called the customer service twice, first - they refused to cancel, second - offered to charge a one-night "cancellation fee"(?!) which would be "waived" except of $25 fee in case of rebooking. It's usually been much easier to deal with Priceline, jut got a refund minus $25. So, in addition to uncertainty, one should be prepare to shell $25 for any other booking, if at all.Have you gone ahead and canceled? Are you going to try Princeton East? Link to comment
nyfirefly11
I did get the refund, but I haven't been able to get a good rate on princeton east - I tried $38 and then $41. I'll keep trying, I just didn't want to go too much over what I originally spent. Let me know if you get anything good in the east. Link to comment
HV777
I'm just wondering what the reason one should give them to get a refund. How have you managed to get it? I was told that if they'd cancel my one night booking, they would charge me the one-night rate, unless I rebook in a different area> then they'd refund me what's been charged minus their $25. In case one cancels but is unable to secure another accommodation within the price range, it's a no-win situation.Have you had any luck with Princeton East? Link to comment
nyfirefly11
I told them I didn't like the area - haven't been able to resubmit, as I made an offer this afternoon, and I have to wait now. But you're right, if you can't get another room, than you're out the money. Link to comment
