deals2buy
Hi:This is my first time posting on this forum, and one of my friends had referred it to me. I have found this post to be extremely helpful to guide each other about the hotel and prices, and in short what to expect, rather than being in the dark.I am looking for the following:Can anyone help me out based on their recent bidding experiences on Priceline?I am looking for a 4 star hotel south of strip (near MGM, luxor and so on) not further down for October 23 - October 24, 09Please let me know a reasonable bid to get this deal. Also, any deals for car rentals on October 22 - October 23 would be appreciated Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! Are you willing to go as far South as Mandalay Bay? If you look at PRICELINE's map of the Strip South zone, are you willing to accept a hotel anywhere within the shaded boundary of the zone? Note that the Westin is located in this zone, even though it is located slightly off-strip... is this acceptable?Just looked and this is a Friday nite in Vegas? The chances of a 4* hotel on the strip are very low... what is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable property? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. deals2buy
Hi:I have the luxor tower room booked directly through the hotel website, but the price is $ 155 which I strongly feel is too expensive for Luxor.I am not looking to stay further south than Luxor.I don't mind looking at 3.5 star but with decent rooms and a decent casino around the same area. Thanks Link to comment
thereuare
I am not looking to stay further south than Luxor. With the Mandalay Bay being located in the Strip South zone, there is no way you will be able guanrantee not winning this property. If you can't accept a hotel anywhere within the zone, then PRICELINE is not a viable option for this stay, imo.I don't mind looking at 3.5 star but with decent rooms and a decent casino around the same area.Even if you bid the 3.5* level your bid could be upgraded to a 4* hotel, and therefore the Mandalay Bay is still a possible property, located just South of the Luxor.Based upon current rates i'm seeing, $155/nite doesn't seem too bad for the Luxor and i'm doubtful you're going to find a 4* hotel for under $100/nite for this nite. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. deals2buy
Huh?? I thought you were trying to avoid this properyt since it is South of the Luxor?I am sorry, I got confused by the areas. Mandalay bay is right next door to luxor, isnt it? If yes, then what area does Priceline classify this hotel in? Also, then is Mandalay bay within the $ 120 range if I bid on Priceline? Thanks Link to comment
thereuare
Yes, Mandalay Bay is next to the Luxor, it is generally considered the "end of the Strip", and is in PRICELINE's South Strip zone. The Mandalay Bay would more likely be a more expensive proeprty, but if you weren't willing to have that hotel come up as a posibility then you couldn't bid that zone at all... if your'e now open this property (and more specifically receiving a hotel anywhere within PRICELINE's South Strip zone, which again, includes the Westin which is slightly off-strip), then you can try bidding this zone.If you want to give it a try, at the 4* level you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* South Strip...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $110, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* South Strip and re-bid zone2...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $120Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
