lccc
I have just found better bidding and am trying to get a 3.5 to 4 star room in downtown Boston for Oct 3-5, 2 nights. I have started bidding for a 3.5 star in Harbour, Waterfront, Copely & Quincy areas, going up $5 each time I add an area, from $85 to $100, but have been shot down each time. I see that there are at least 2 wins for those dates - one for $85 and one for $95, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks! Lyn Link to comment
AaronJB
Welcome to the site. :)Those wins were bid around 2 months ago, and were not for all three dates, but each were only one of the three. Prices may have changed since those dates, especially if an event is going on in the area at this time. What would be your max bid/budget per night for hotel for these dates? Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase when you are ready to book. lccc
I'm hoping to get them for under $120, and since we will be walking around and want to be close in, I am removing waterfront from my choices (based on recent post saying waterfront isn't close in). Link to comment
thereuare
At the 3.5* level you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 3.5* Harbour, Copley, and Quincy...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* Harbour, Copley, and Quincy and re-bid zone5...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $125 (if you want to make this last bid, as i think rates are high for your dates and you will likely get to this point)Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. Ragu Sauce
It might be a bit early to be bidding on October dates... Try going to the Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau page to see if there is a large convention in town over your requested dates. I always have the best luck if I am bidding inside two weeks of arrival! Link to comment
lccc
ok-you said I have 5 rebid zones - which I think is brighton, fenway, medford, cambridge, and s boston, because those have only 3 star or less - right? BUT, I don't understand how, once I've bid including each of those 5 zones, how closing out the browser and going back in helps me. Wouldn't priceline be able to tell that I had used my 5 "new" rebids and wouldn't accept a repeat, requiring me to wait 24 hours? What am I missing?I did look at events and there is a convention of 7500 that week. Not sure if that is considered big or not, but I would think a group that size could have an impact on downtown hotels, therefore I'm not sure it's wise to wait til closer to date as I'm thnking that the "conventioneers" will begin to snap up rooms with their employers money, not caring much about $$! What do ya'll think? Link to comment
thereuare
NOTE: Cambridge DOES have 4* hotels available... it's (North Cambridge - Arlington) that currently does not offer 4* bidding. Be careful when you bid you click the correct re-bid zone. The above bidding, when closing the browser works, since all the bids in the second cycle include re-bid zone5, which you never included previously, making all those bids unique. There is no way to UNCHECK a zone, so by closing the browser you're able to 'clean the slate' and check only the zones you want... otherwise there would be no way to bid "Harbour, Copley, and Quincy and re-bid zone5" since all the previous zones would be selected from the previous bidding.Does that make sense now? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. lccc
ok - I went up to $131 for 3 1/2* and $101 for 3* - all rejected. I think I'll wait a few days and see what happens. Link to comment
