thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding!Did you want to try up to your limit first for a 4* hotel and then, if rejected, try up to your limit for a 3.5* property... OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay?I'm primarily interested in TS, MTW, MTE. Not opposed to ESB or CPS.Are you willing to pay more to be in the TS, MTW, or MTE zones? Did you want to bid threse three zones first up to your limit then try for the other two zones... or is the least expensive of these 5 zones your goal?Let us know the above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.PS- $200 'all-in' is about $172 before taxes and fees... is this the amount you calculated for your maximum bid? kjohnson63
I'd like to try 4*s in TS,MTW and MTE first up to $180 max bid. Link to comment
thereuare
At the 4* level you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* MTE, MTW, TS...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE, MTW, TS and re-bid zone4...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $155, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE, MTW, TS and re-bid zone5...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $180Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. kjohnson63
No bids accepted yet. My trip is still over a month away. At what point should I think about changing the strategy to include 3.5* or upping the price? All bids have been placed through your PRICELINE link. Link to comment
thereuare
It depends upon your budget, your own thoughts regarding a 3.5* vs. a 4*, and how far in advance you like to have your plans confirmed. Some people are comfortable waiting until the nite before while others aren't comfortable unless they know where they'll be staying 8+ weeks in advance. If you decide you'd like to change strategies (increase your maximum bid, lower star rating, or add CPS and/or ESB) let us know and we'll be happy to suggest an updated strategy. Thanks for using our PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
nocgirl
You are going the exact same dates I am but I am staying until 10/18. I got a 3.5 star in MTE for $150 it was the Roosevelt. Link to comment
kjohnson63
Thanks for the info. nocgirl. I'll keep that in mind. I'm not too anxious yet, so I'm playing the 4* strategy a while longer. Link to comment

kjohnson63
I've been using the provided strategy. With 12 days until I travel, I'm slightly concerned. The last three days I upped each bid level by $35. Still nothing. Any additional tips? Link to comment
AaronJB
What have you bid exactly - in terms of star rating/zone/price? Link to comment
kjohnson63
I started with the original strategy provided by "thereuare". This week I just changed the amount starting at $155 and increased in the same increments up to $215. Link to comment

kjohnson63
I have not included CPS or ESB. Yes, I do have a backup at The Pod. Thanks for your help. Link to comment
thereuare
At what point to you want to begin to include CPS and ESB?How much is your back-up at The Pod? Do you have a shared or private bath there? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. kjohnson63
$159 at the Pod with shared bath, which I am not thrilled about.I'm open to both ESB and CPS. My primary reason for the trip is to see four shows on B'way, but it's certainly easy enough to get to TS from anywhere.thanks again. Link to comment
thereuare
I'd repeat the above with your newly added zones:At the 4* level you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, ESB...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, ESB and re-bid zone4...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $155, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE, MTW, TS,CPS, ESB and re-bid zone5...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $180Any questions feel free to ask. If the above fails (which at the moment i think is likely) i would also begin to consider lowering your star rating to 3.5* and/or 3* (or increasing your budget) as you're probably still looking at similar quality as The Pod plus the addition of a private bath. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. jill325
I am looking to stay the same days 10/14- 10/17 but would prefer to stay at the Grand Hyatt and have only been using MTE as the only zone. How can I get more bid zones if I only want to win 4* MTE zone?I have bid up to $181 per night and been rejected with no counter offers. Link to comment
AaronJB
Jill, please start a new thread if you would like help with your own stay. Thank you. Link to comment
kjohnson63
Still no wins using the suggested bidding structure. I'd like to add 3.5*, but I'm primarily interested in MSG-Convention or Downtown-SoHo-Fin areas. Tips? Link to comment
thereuare
We can suggest a strategy for just those two zones, but to clarify...If you're interested in Downtown is there a reason you haven't included it in your 4* bidding previously? Are the previously bid zones not acceptable at the 3.5* level (and you were only interested in them at the 4* level?) Not following the logic on your zone/star rating selections unless there are specific properties you're trying to target/avoid... is that the case?Is $180 still your maximum bid for a 3.5* property? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. kjohnson63
Not sure why I didn't include it in my 4* search. I think I noticed a couple of wins at the Embassy Suites. I think my main concern was avoiding the Roosevelt. It seems the reviews are VERY mixed, but it's a frequent win in MTE.thanks for your help.As for max bid, I've been taking my 4* bids up to $215 +taxes. Link to comment
thereuare
So to confirm you've bid for all the 4* zones except for Downtown up to $215?For you next step do you want to bid for a 4* Downtown up to $215 or did you want to try for a 3.5*? If 3.5 star, did you want to include MTW, ESB, CPS, and/or TS to your bidding? (in addition to Downtown and MSG-Convention) What is your maximum bid for a 3.5 star?Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. kjohnson63
Yes, I bid TS, MTE, MTW, CPS and ESB up to $215. I think I should try 3.5* up to $180. Link to comment
