We wanted one night in Phila so I looked at the postings and offered $45 for 3.5*. I got a window that said there was little chance of accepting the bid, so I increased to $52. Then they offered to accept a bid $15 higher. Thoguth about trying something in the middle, but then decided that it was less than $10 difference, so I bid $67 and got......Congratulations, your price of $67 was accepted by Marriott Philadelphia Downtown. Unfortunately, the TripAdvisor reviews of this hotel are quite bad, so I'll let you know!

Thank you for sharing your results with the board.

The reviews don't seem too bad to me, nobody raving about this property, and most of the negative reviews are more along the lines of "this is an average hotel". Remember that most guests are paying 'full' price and therefore have 'full' expectations... while this hotel may be a disappointment at $150+ per nite, it may be a bargain at less than half of that!
