Hi guys, I have a 10$/night bonus with PRICELINE and I want to use it to book my hotel for my vacation at Las Vegas. I want to stay in a nice hotel ON the strip, hopefully something a little nicer than Imperial Palace, therefore atleast 3.5*. My dates are may 17th to may 22nd. How much should I bid? I don't mind if it's North or South Strip...

Thanks!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Here's the issue you'll be facing...

You want to be on the strip, but there are hotels in both of PRICELINE's strip zones (ie- north and south) which are in the zone but not directly on the strip itself. In the South Strip zone there is the Westin, and in the North Strip zone there is the Trump, and while each of these properties are rated higher than 3.5*, there is always the chance that your bid is upgraded to a higher rated hotel. Would a 'slightly' off-strip location be acceptable? (also note that the Trump doesn't have a casino)

Also, please note that you CAN use our PRICELINE link along with your bonus money by:

1) click our link to go to PRICELINE

2) go to the MY PROFILE >> MY REWARDS link near the top right of their home page

3) use the bonus money link in the MY REWARDS section of PRICELINE to begin your bidding

We don't want to suggest a strategy that goes higher than you're willing to pay... what is your maximum bid for this stay? Are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* or are you looking for the least expensive 3.5* or better hotel for this stay?

Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

Hi.. I just went to take a look on Expedia and I found that the difference between 3.5 and 4* seems quite big. Therefore I think 3.5 would be more reasonable. On Expedia, Harrah's and Luxor, both 3.5*, are listed at 79 & 83 respectively. Lets say I can manage to get 20% off retail price with priceline, it would come out to 64.80$ (avg.). So 65.00$/night max for a 5-night stay. Would that be resonable? Is 20% off reasonable? If I can't manage to get that, maybe I might as well pay full price and get to pick my own hotel :-S

At the 3.5* level you have TWO re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Bid $50, if rejectec close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE

Bid $50, if rejectec close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 3.5* South and North Strip...

Hi! Thanks for your advice. Unfortunately all the bids were rejected.... I'll try again tomorrow. If it doesn't work I might have to settle for a 3 star, because my vacation dates are approaching fast. If I settle for a 3 star, is there a way I could make sure I get Imperial palace?

No, you can't bid on a specific hotel. If you're looking to target a specific property HOTWIRE is often a better option since you're able to take an educated guess as to what you may likely receive based upon the amenities shown before your purchase. However, I thought your back-up was the Luxor or Harrahs for ~$80/nite??

If you're budget is flexible would you be interested in a 4* for ~$85/nite?

Hi! I won a 4* south strip with 60$ bid (I had 10$ bonus cash per night so the total was 70$/night). I got the Westin. Looks like it's a little off the strip like you said... but doesn't matter, I can live with that. I was shocked though to hear afterwards that they charge 16$/night as a resort fee!!!!!!!!! Seems outrageous after the reviews I read on this place. Do priceline customers have to pay that even though they had no clue before bidding?
