dogbert75
Just won a great deal at the Hyatt Place in Orlando through Priceline. $30 per night for 2 nights (April 24-26). I was trying to get this hotel based on the info from this board. I started at $25 a night and worked my way up to $30 using the free re-bids by selecting areas that didn't have anything higher than 2 1/2 stars. dogbert75
Got back from my trip and I was pleased with the hotel. Two full size beds and a pull out sofa in the room. Nice sized flat screen tv. Pool is a little on the small size, but the kids still had a blast. Free breakfast is basic: english muffins, bagles, toast, cereal, and fruit -- but still does the trick. Location is convenient for Universal, which is where we went for the weekend. When checking out there was a lady at the desk who was having a conversation with the manager because of a variety of issues she had with the plumbing in her room, but my stay was uneventful. To answer Jimmy, my bidding history was as follows: Zone 8 (selected 3 star hotel) - $25; Zones 8,7 - $27; Zones 8,7,11 - $29; Zones 8,7,11,3 - $30 (winning bid). The zone numbers are the different areas that show when looking for a hotel in orlando. I scoped each out before I started bidding to see what their maximum star rating was. I had seen others had gotten this hotel for 30, so this was the one I was hoping for. My preliminary research had the following list (I didn't pay attention to resorts, if available):1- 4*2 - 4*3 - 2 1/2*4 - 3 1/2*5 - 3 1/2*6 - 2 1/2*7 - 2*8 - didn't write down since I knew I was starting the bidding here asking for a 3* hotel9 - 3*10 - 3*11 - 2*Each time I was denied on my asking price, I added a zone that had no hotels higher that 2 1/2 stars to my rebid. These are the "free rebids" because they obviously can't produce any winners since I set the mark at 3 stars or higher. I figured it would be 30 a night, but I wanted to try lower since it was so last minute.I hope all this info helps. Link to comment
