Unfortunately we only stayed one night at the Red Rock Resort and Casino in February. It was booked through Hotwire for a great price.

We took a cab from the Strip. There is a shuttle but the times didn't work for us. It was closer to Vegas than we thought. We were the only ones checking in at around 4pm and the hotel seemed very quiet. Very friendly and professional staff at the front desk. We were offered a choice of rooms either facing the mountains or the city, we opted for the mountains as we were returning to the Strip afterwards. Our room was on the 24th floor, at the far end of the building, quite a trek with our bags on the plush carpet. It had a great view of the mountains and pool area (which unfortunately we didn't use as they were far too cold!). We were quite taken aback at both the size and standard of the room. The bathroom was huge and newly appointed in black and white marble with twin sinks and quality fittings with a large supply of toiletries. A small TV was inset above the bath. The toilet was in a separate area. The lobby was large. No problem about where to stow our bags out of the way. The beds had about a dozen pillows and cushions. Beautiful colour scheme of dark wood and red and green furnishings. There was a large flat screen TV and quality ipod/DVD player. The mini bar was well stocked but expensive, we were almost charged for touching a sensored bottle! We Wished we could have spent more time in the room.

The hotel design was absolutely beautiful, very cosy and tastefully furnished.

As we did not plan to gamble we explored the hotel and watched a movie in the Multiplex cinema complex - how convenient. It was the same size and quality as an independent movie complex. The bowling alley was also great fun. We ate in the Hachi Japanese restaurant which was excellent with a very nice atmosphere. The casino area bar was very attractive and lively.

The following day we wanted to visit the Red Rock Canyon. Unfortunately we did not have a car and the tours needed notice and seemed very overpriced. We were advised to hire a car for the day as it would be more economical than taking a cab. As we had not prebooked this was rather expensive for the few hours we kept the car. We didn't walk around much as it was cold and windy. This made the spa back at the Red Rock all the more attractive. We didn't resent paying the resort fee as we had been forwarned and made use of the spa twice. It was of excellent quality and so relaxing. It was spacious and not too busy. Robes, shoes, shower and hair products, and lotions were all provided as well as a choice of teas and fruit in the relaxation area.

We were sad to leave and would definitely return!

We recently stayed at the Red Rock, having won it on Hotwire for less than $70. We took the shuttle from the airport, which was a money saver. There was no line at Check in. And our clerk was pleasant enough but not very attentive. I very nicely asked for a Canyon View Room. She said sure and asked if we wanted to upgrade for $50. She said the upgrade was to a larger room. I decided to go for it. As it turns out, the room was at the very end of the hotel (a HUGE trek) and was a Strip view. Yes, it was a bigger room - but that is it there was no more furniture in it. Just an empty space that would be great as a dancefloor or to do yoga. It was odd. However, I did not feel like treking back down there and asking to be switched to a Canyon View Room.

We ate at the Hachi restaurant. It was not the best experience. Our server was visually upset that we ordered several small meals and rolls (which they advertise for all over the place), rather than entrees. As for the food, well, I enjoyed my soup and told him so, when he went to take away my bowl. He never even responded back to me. I don't know why he was pissed, since our bill was still $80 pre tax. I think it is the first time that I didn't tip 15-20%, since he was such an ass. Making matters worse - I got quite sick about 30 minutes later. Not a good experience at all!

The rest of our stay was quite pleasant. Do yourself a favor and visit the spa, even if it is just to use the jacuzzi. We did twice. It was quite the experience.

The bed, linens, and overall comfort of the room was great and well worth the original price (I was stupid to "upgrade"). All the staff was very friendly, nice, and knowledgeable. I would definitely return the next time I am in Vegas.
