VA Northern VA Courtyard Marriott Chantilly

This is a new hotel and part of the marriott chain. We stayed 4 nights on a priceline bid of $40. They gave our family a king size bed and a sleeper sofa, which worked just great. First night in room discovered a trail of ants. The management was horrified and gave us a new room immediately and then gave us free breakfast (which goes for $9.00 for a great buffet) for our stay.

Wonderful pool and hot tub, which seems underused. However, has only evening hours during the week.

Free shuttle to the new air and space museum at Dulles (free admission but $12 for parking). Loved it.

Walking or easy driving distance to a huge number of restaurants and shops.

Would recommend it.

Stayed there 8/23/10-8/24/10, just one night--but a nice one.

$40 priceline bid, got it after adding Dulles South to a failed $40 bid for Dulles North.

I was actually shocked by how nice the room was. Extremely tastefully done in reds and warm tones in a coherent and aesthetic East Asian style. Lovely sofa, king bed, handsome and extremely comfortable bedding, nice toiletries, small fridge, iron, free wifi, free and close parking, ice machine, free airport shuttle. Bath was functional though not redone like the main room, but wow, that bedroom was lovely. We didn't check out the pool (open only in the evening on weekdays--but the check-in person said we could use the pool at a sister hotel just down the block during the day; we did museums instead, of course) or the public areas, but for $40 (plus a bit less than $12 in taxes and fees), this is just an amazing bargain. Thanks, Priceline!

As for location, driving the 66 to downtown was no problem, even at morning rush hour. Didn't ask about the shuttle to the Chantilly Air and Space Museum, but if they still do it, that's another great bargain since the museum is free but parking is $15 (!) there. Big box stores and restaurants very close by hotel. The only critique I can make is that the hotel is at least ten minutes south of car rental returns at Dulles. North Dulles hotels are closer. Oh, one tip: the gas station right by the car rental places at Dulles is well-priced and you drive directly by it. Very convenient.

Finding a room like this for this price is what brings us back to Priceline over and over.
