slolar
Anyone have any experience with the private metro/sedan cars? Like carmellimo.com, dial7.com? Carmellimo.com is quoting me $28 + tolls/tip to take directly to the hotel. Seems reasonable, can pay ahead and *know* what to budget. Seems almost too good to be true. Link to comment
thereuare
I'm assuming that this is from LGA to the Benjamin Hotel? What time and day of the week do you land? slolar
Hi Thereuare. We land Friday 4/17 at 130. Just wondering if it's cheaper/more convenient to use one of the private car services to hotel's in Midtown. The rates seem about similar. carmellimo quoted me 28 + tolls + tip.Sara Link to comment
thereuare
Again, landing at LGA and is that 1:30pm? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
slolar
Again, landing at LGA and is that 1:30pm?Yes. And I just realized I wanted to post this under the topic of "airport to Hotel" in the NYC general forum. Anyway to move it? Link to comment
thereuare
This is information specific to your particular stay since it take into consideration day of the week and time of arrival (as opposed to "what are the options for traveling to Manhattan from LGA) so it belongs in this thread more than the 'general info' forum, imo.I think a taxi would be cheaper than the $28 you're being quoted (maybe $20 or so). The 'unknown' factor is traffic which can't be predicted... a car service will quote you the flat fee and regardless if the trip takes 20 minutes or over an hour (if you were to sit in heavy bumper-to-bumper traffic) it would be the same quote price. Assuming you don't hit heavy traffic and that you actually keep moving, a taxi should be less than the $28 car service.
