Hotwire Hotel: 3* Las Vegas (South Strip) Excalibur

I have this hotel (which I am 95% sure is Excalibur, which is fine)

3-star hotel in South Strip

Casino, Fitness, Pool, Dining, Golf, Spa

Tue, Mar 3 to Fri, Mar 6 (or Mon - Thurs) for $49

But that is quoted for 2 people. We don't get that deal with 3-4 people. If we bring a 3rd person will the hotel have a major problem? And does Excalibur determine single/double beds on what we enter at purchase time or is it a 'what is available' type of arrangement where we have a chance at a 2 bed room?

Our other option is the Stratosphere Hotel, and I really don't want to stay at the Stratosphere Hotel.

And, of course, I'll use your links to book the arrangement.

If you have 3 people and are using HOTWIRE, the only way to guarantee some type of bedding for 3 is to search for 3. If you search for 2, it becomes a situation where you could call the hotel and explain the situation, but the hotel would have the right to say no. If they accepted the request, it would likely be a "request" and not a guarantee. If rooms with two beds at the hotel go for a premium, they might charge you the difference. They might try and charge you an extra person fee, depending on the hotel.

If a hotel is showing up when you search for 2 and not for 3, then they are only working with HOTWIRE for double occupancy rooms and have not agreed to offer quad occupancy rooms (2 beds.)

Overall, it is not outside the realm of possibility that they will simply say "Ok", and that will be that. However, by booking 3 people in a room and only indicating two, you definitely run the risk of some of the above issues.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE link.

The Excalibur website charges an extra $20/pp per day for more than double occupancy, so that is what i would be prepared to pay if you needed to pay for an upgrade to a room with two beds (if available). As AaronJB states, you may get lucky (this is Vegas, right :) ) and you can request a room with 2 beds and be given it with no question or additional fee, but i would at least be prepared for a 'worst case scenario' (which would be the hotel is sold-out of rooms with 2 beds and one person needs to sleep on the floor, you call for an rollaway bed (if available), or that you have to pay additional for a room with two beds).

If you do book for just double occupancy, i wouldn't have everyone go to the check-in desk... just have two of you go and ask for a room with two beds.

Just curious as to how you came up with this hotel being the Excalibur?

I was hoping that it was when I was booking a trip for the same day, but I am afraid it's not because the Excalibur has "tennis" and it's a Customer Favorite according to the list.

I am really intrigued by whether you get the Excalibur or not.

If not it, then I'm curious as to what it might be because it doesn't match anything on the list. I'm heading there for one night (March 4th) and I'm in the same boat as you as far as the double bed/occupancy thing.

If anyone else knows what this hotel might be feel free to chirp in.

Thanks!!!

Alright, placed a call in... The cost for an extra person is $20/night, with a rollaway bed costing an additional $20/night... Single/double rooms are based on availability at check-in time.

As for 'customer favorite', all I am seeing is Casino, Fitness, Pool, Dining, Golf, Spa with a 3 star hotel

Here is how it is listed on this site:

3* Excalibur

Customer Favorite

Amenities: Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Golf, Tennis, Spa

So it is missing tennis and customer favorite

Tropicana is the only other option and that has 'business' and 'resort' on this site

So which one did I get???

The Excalibur is still showing with a Tennis icon in the Vacation Packages product... can't be certain if this property is now appearing without this icon in the "opaque" product.

Keep in mind the comments at the top of the Hotwire Hotel List... while the Tropicana is the only other reported hotel to the board, there could be others, and we're seeing more and more new hotels participating with the opaque suppliers given the current economic conditions in the hotel industry. I'm not saying this isn't the Excalibur... but there certainly could be others.

I can not say it is the Excalibur or not...

:)

but I tried 3 people for your dates and the 5* I see should be the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino

$159 / night

Would be my choise...!!! BUT it only shows up if you choose 3 people!!! :o

(for 2 people you will only see Wynn for $109)

GOOD LUCK!

Tom

The South Strip zone does extend a little beyond the Strip itself.

For example, Hooters is in the South Strip zone, but is not located on the strip itself (nor is it included in your list above of "all" the South Strip zone hotels) I'm not suggesting that the above property is Hooters, but only as an example that sometimes its impossible to think of every hotel included in the zone.

I'm not sure... it may very well be the Excalibur, but there is a shadow of a doubt given the inconsistency in the amenity icons, so can't say with any degree of confidence if this is the Exacalibur or not.
