The Golden Nugget is a nicer property than the Orleans and the two are very different hotels... the Orleans is closer to the strip, but immediately surrounding the property there is nothing, so if you want to leave the hotel grounds you'll need to drive or take a taxi.

The Golden Nugget is located downtown, so it's much easier to "casino hop" and visit different hotels, casinos, and restaurant. (not to mention where else can you swim with a shark! :) )

The pool with the sharks is pretty cool and my GF was really excited when I told her where we were staying. Plus it's a lot closer to my family's homes that the Orleans so all in all it worked out. :)
