Wes S
I am going to Las Vegas on 1/9 thru 1/12 (Friday thru Monday) with my brother and his friend, it is their first time and they're turning 21 that weekend, however a week after book really cheap flights there we realized that it is the Consumer Electronics Convention weekend and hotel rates are ridiculous... we have back up booked the Belagio @ the Poker rate for two nites 1/10 & 1/11, but I don't want to stay up all nite on 1/9 and risk not checking in on 1/10 in the morning. I tried Pricelining on your link, for the 5* Strip South, of which your Ticker list shows only THEHotel @ Mandalay Bay, I have used the Convention Center, Fremont, Henderson, LAS, Nellis, and West Strip zones for rebid, tried $95 first, i was countered $180, but i denied, tried $110, $120, $130, $140, $150 & $160, but all got denied. I won't choose Strip North, because we don't want to be off the Strip and end up @ the Trump, but certainly don't mind staying @ the Venetian or Palazzo. Any suggestion anyone on what to do to get 5* on this busy weekend @ a reasonable price or should I try again and if countered just accept the counter offer? Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! What is your poker rate at The Bellagio? Also, the MGM Grand properties (which own the Bellagio) charge extra for more than two in a room... are you declaring triple occupancy or just double? (just want to know for apples-to-apples comparison)It's not clear from your post, when you bid on PRICELINE and received a counter-offer for $180, were you bidding for all 3 nites or just the nite of 1/9/09?Thanks for usng our PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
Wes S
The poker rate I have booked @ the Bellagio are $260 on 1/10 and $140 on 1/11, declaring only double occupancy. I tried using priceline for all 3 nights, i first bid $95 for 5* Strip South and got countered $180, i declined the counter offer and tried again 6 more times adding the rebid zones w/o 5* hotels in the amounts of $110, $120, $130, $140, $150, and $160 without any luck. Any suggestions? Link to comment
thereuare
If you could get a 5* hotel in the South Strip zone for $180 for this complete stay i think that would be a great deal. Assuming it is THEhotel, the average rate on their own website averages $400+ per nite, and it is cheaper than your rate at the Bellagio (for which you'd still have to find a home for the nite of 1/9, which is the most expensive nite of the three).I'll add two caveats:1) no guarnatees you'll receive THEhotel. I would be surprised if you didn't, but you could be the first to report a new 5* hotel in this zone2) PRICELINE only guarnatees double occupancy, but this may be a similar risk you're already taking with your back-up reservation at the BellagioIf you're ok with the above two points, i would re-try bidding again, starting low and using your re-bid zones to go up to the $180 level (if you need a more specific strategy let us know and we'll post it)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. Wes S
I tried Priceline again today and got THEHotel @ Mandalay Bay for $163 a nite checking in 1/9 and checking out on 1/12.. I've never stayed @ this hotel, I have always stayed @ the Bellagio and the Wynn, so this will be fun for myself, my brother who is turning 21 and his best friend. :) Link to comment
