After using this site to do a little research on hotels being offered in Las Vegas through I decided to use the link supplied at this site for Hotwire to book a hotel. The information on this site was dead on and I was able to get a room at the Palace Station for a steal. Upon arriving for check-in was told that was being put in a V.I.P. room. Simply put this just meant that they put on the top floor. This was great, as the room had a nice view of the north end of strip including the Stratosphere, as well as downtown Las Vegas. Unlike many of the other rooms in the tower this room did not look, as though it had been upgraded. The hotel's website shows the tower rooms, as having a flat panel TV and updated furnishings. Despite not having these this room, was still very nice. The staff at the hotel and the casino were very friendly and helpful. Also this hotel offers a number of food options including the Grand Cafe that features 3 course meals starting at just $9.99. In addition to the great dinning option they also offers a shuttle to and from the airport and the strip (Hotwire shows, as only being able for what are the tower rooms, but it is also also available for courtyard rooms, as a cousin booked a courtyard room and used the shuttle) This hotel is located right off of I-15 at Sahara just west of the north end of the Las Vegas Strip. Just note this hotel is not in middle of action on strip, but is great for those who are looking for a good value or those who just don't want to spend a arm and two legs for a room. If I am able to get a rate like this again through Hotwire I will take it in a heartbeat.

I just completed my stay in this hotel, for which I created this topic about my accepted bid on Priceline.

My room was fine, but I have a HUGE complaint about the hotel charges. The hotel hit me with a required service fee of $16.79 ($14.99 plus tax) per day. This is allegedly to cover various hotel services such as the shuttle bus to and from the airport. My objection is that there should be no required fees aside from those specified when paying for the room by Priceline. I'm not objecting to additional charges for things you choose to do, such as an extra cot, telephone calls, room service meals, etc. But nothing extra should be required. If you bid $20 on Priceline, you don't expect to have to pay $36 for the room.

The hotel imprinted my credit card at the start of my stay, as is normal procedure most places, but I did NOT initial the line next to the service fee. At the end of the stay, they charged this fee to my credit card. I have filed a dispute with my credit card company that I did not authorize the fee. I also contacted Priceline customer service to complain, since they should not be accepting reservations on behalf of this hotel in this manner. If I do not get satisfaction from either of these venues, I am prepared to escalate the complaint through various channels. I will post an update once the situation is resolved. In the meantime, beware when making Priceline reservations with this property, as you may find yourself in the same situation.

Incidentally, more about the room - it wasn't huge, but the accommodations were nice enough. In fact, I would consider that room to be a 3 star rather than 2.5 star, based upon the room itself, since it had such niceties as a full marble bathroom with a walk-in shower with sliding glass doors, and a big flat-screen LCD television (standard def only though).
