tyasa Posted September 8, 2008 Report Share Posted September 8, 2008 Hi, just wondering if anyone knows how to get a good deal on a beach front room? or panaromic view of sea? should i be using priceline/hotwire? i see that u can get "suite" from hotwire....anyone know if that guarantees a beach front room? slick_gd Posted September 8, 2008 Report Share Posted September 8, 2008 You are not guaranteed to get a room with a view on either PRICELINE or HOTWIRE. All they will guarantee you is a room, the type of room is up to the hotel. You can always call and ask the hotel directly once you have booked, but they are under no obligation to give you one of the rooms with a view, and they might not even be able to if there are none available. The 'suite' icon typically means that the room will likely have a kitchen (microwave, stove, fridge, etc) and does not signify that the room will include a good view. There is a possibility you can get a suite on the not-good-view side of the hotel. If you are open to having a room without a view, then you may score a good deal on PRICELINE or HOTWIRE. But if you absolutely have to have a room with a view, then I would suggest booking through another site where you can book that type of room directly.Please be aware of this risk if booking through PRICELINE or HOTWIRE. krj9999 Posted September 9, 2008 Report Share Posted September 9, 2008 Very unlikely to get a beach front or ocean view room in Hawaii with Priceline or Hotwire, unless the hotel only has oceanview rooms (Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki only has oceanview rooms). That said, usually the hotel will offer "upgrades" upon arrival to a better view or location if available for an additional cost, which can be significant. Link to comment
