Hoping to get a different hotel this time, but am happy with the price none the less. Maybe will try the check in tip. Sometimes I really wonder about starting higher to target a different hotel, but have never had the nerve to possibly overbid on the same result.

Another option besides bidding higher is to see if HOTWIRE offers anything for a similar price... even if it means choosing a more favorable, but lower rated, hotel.
