Hotwire Hotel: 5* Vegas and the DD guarentee

I am looking for a 5* on the strip 6-2 to 6-4. I tried priceline up to $98/night. The Venetian website was $129 for June 2nd, and $199 for June 3rd. Right now, hotwire has a 5* for $136/night.

Question: If I take this, how does the DD guarentee work? Will I get back $14 for each night, making my hotel $122/night? Or is it just for the first night?

Thanks,

Maxvz

PS: At this moment, I have the Aladdin for $79/night for a Resort Room. For those interested, I got the rate through travelzoo, at:

To book: Call Aladdin Resort and Casino at 1-877-333-WISH (9474), and mention offer code STZOO6.

If hotwire has a rate of $136,your real close to getting it for $99 on PL.If it was me for a June stay I would ride it out for $99 on PL.You get some of the best rates in Vegas in the summer.I think $99 might hit now on PL.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

I agree with bbbb, at the very least bid up to $99 as that is the low price we have been seeing lately... i don't think you gave yourself a chance at $98.

As for the DD Guarantee, i don't think you'd be eligible for any refund:

The Venetian's Average Rate = $164/nite

Hotwire's Average Rate = $136/nite

Therefore Hotwire is cheaper and i don't think your claim would be successful.

To use another example...

It is widely known that rates on Sun-Thur are MUCH cheaper than Fri-Sat. So let's imagine that you're booking a hotel for Thur and Fri nites and get the following rates from the hotel's website:

Thur nite: $50

Fri nite: $100

You do a search on Hotwire and Hotwire basically has access to the same rooms rates and therefore presents ot you a cost of $75/nite.

In this situation it is eas(ier) to see that Hotwire is the same price for the entire length of stay, but since they average the price and show you only one figure they may appear to be more expensive for one of the nites.

My interpretation is that you can't get a DD claim for a sub-set of your Hotwire stay... it has to be a complete stay vs. stay comparison.

Thereuare is right about the entire stay price for DD. I had purchased 3 nights at the Venetian for $160 a night, and then called V and they gave me a non refundable rate of $143 per night for all three nights. Their website however had a suite special for $135 for two out of the three nights. The first night was $199.

I called the customer service line and they told me HW would not honor the website deal since it is only two days out of three. They look at the entire stay as opposed to per day rate. So, I submitted the DD form with the call-in rate and heard back from them within a day with the refund info.
