Hi Everyone!

I just found this site and think it's great! I am trying to book a hotel in Vegas from Feb21-25/08 and would really like to stay at Treasure Island. (am attending a wedding there). By researching the Priceline North Strip Vicinity, can I assume that the only 4* hotels in that area are Mirage, Treasure Island and Ceasar's? I wouldn't mind staying at either of these, but would rather have Treasure Island. I tried bidding from $50-90 but got rejected and eventually was told to wait 24hrs. I tried to see if anyone searched a 4* in this area, or stayed at TI, but I couldn't find one.

I also wouldn't mind staying at Planet Hollywood, but am scared to bid and get a different hotel. Does anyone have any tips? Your help is greatly appreciated! thank you to everyone that posts on this site!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Your guesses as to the 4 star hotels in this area seem correct (and finite), but of course there are no guarantees... there could be a hotel that we're not thinking of or a hotel which we consider to be 3 stars with priceline deems to be 4 stars.

In regards to your bidding, under $100 for a 4 nite stay which includes weekend nites doesn't seem like a high probability bet. If you let us know your maximum bid we will suggest a strategy for you to follow and/or provide options within yoru budget.

You're right, I was pretty sure I wouldn't get anything under $100, but I thought I would submit my bet in anyways and pray for a miracle. Right now it's been on for $180 avg at TI, but I've seen it go down to as low as $130 for a weekend stay but I wasn't ready at the time to book. I guess my max bid would be $130? Thank you so much for your help and advice. I could spend hours reading everything on this site!

At the 4* level you have two re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. (NOTE: Summerlin is not one of them)

I would start with the following.

Select 4* North Strip...

Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $110, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Select 4* North Strip and re-bid zone2...

Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $120.

If rejected post back and we'll revise to try again in 24 hours.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Let us know how it goes. I was planning on staying at TI for my next trip. Then I found this forum and tried to bid for the Venitian or Palazzo for a good price but it is not working out. I will probably will try to make a bid for TI.

Sure, no problem. It's going slow, because I'm still kinda scared about the re-bid zones, so I'm still doing one bid per day. I guess the re-bid zones are the Airport and Nellie, but I'm just scared just in case! I'll post once I finally get a room.

Update:

I kept trying to bid a 4* Hotel, North Strip on Priceline but didn't end up having any luck. My highest bid was $130 and got counter offered with $148. I didn't take it and good thing I didn't because I ended up getting Treasure Island for $124/night along with an Elite sensational package on the treasureisland.com site. The package came with tons of casino credits and coupons. The only thing is that I waited super last minute. Good Luck to all you bidders!

To Roses and anybody else hesitant about rebid zones,

If at the beginning of the bidding process on priceline there are no check box options listed in a particular zone for the same or higher star level that you are bidding on, you can add that zone without fear of ending up somewhere you don't want to be. Just be sure before you start that you are certain which zones you can safely add. Once you have determined this, add zones and raise your bid without worrying about ending up in the new zone. It will not happen. Priceline does not have hotels of the star level you are looking for in that zone. You do not have to wait 24 hours to make bids one at a time.

At least it has never happened to me and I have done it over a hundred times...

Glad to hear you found something for which you're happy with the results.
