Tried for a few days beginning at $110 in increments of $5 and knew I would pay higher for "New Year's Eve" in the stay. Best price booking online without opaqueness was $275! :) Good reviews in general, & again, a bit out of city centre as I seem to be getting for Europe on priceline, but supposedly near tram stop and takes 10euros taxi to get to city centre.

Oh man NYE in the Dam is a blast. You will have so much fun! Amsterdam isnt really that large. We walked quite a bit when we were there last winter. We stayed at the Nh Barbizon Palace and walked to the Heineken experience and the Van Gogh museum. The red light district is amazing too if you havent been. There is a bar on the major corner called the Old sailors pub that is a lot of fun. They changed the laws recently and you cannot drink and smoke weed in the same cafes. Also there is one sex show there you have to see. It has the best performers. Its got an elephant for the logo. I cant remember the name but its got a big area in the red light district, you cant miss it. The performers in the other shows are not nearly as nice. Have fun.
