The Doubletree Hotel Airport is located near several office parks off of Tyvola Rd in the Executive Park-South zone. It is a very quite location, at least on weekends. There is very little in the way of restaurants etc., close by. The hotel appears to have been recently updated with contemporary decor in the lobby-restaurant-lounge area. There is an outdoor pool in a lush central courtyard.

On check-in, I was greeted by a courteous and efficient staff member with no mention of Priceline. I had earlier requested a non-smoking king room and was told they would list my preference but couldn't guarantee it. I did receive my requested room as the hotel wasn't full. Doubletree provides fresh oatmeal chocolate chip cookies at check-in which was a nice touch.

The elevator had apparently not been updated as there was a large stain on the carpet floor, and the wall coverings were frayed. This was definitely a Priceline room in regard to location. It was across and one door down from the elevator. The adjoining room had been converted into a meeting room. The adjoining door had a dead bolt lock, but there was NOT a second door on the meeting room side. This was not a problem for our stay as nothing was held in that room, but could be a problem if there was. There was some noise from the hallway, but not excessive. Even with the close proximity to the CLT airport, air traffic noise was minimal. The loudest noise maker was the cooling system. It was controlled by a wall mounted thermostat and very loud when running. In fact, you had to turn up the TV just to hear it over the A/C.

The room looked to have been recently updated. There was a widescreen LCD TV and upscale furnishings and bathroom vanity. Nutrogena toiletries and the ubiquitous curved shower rod were prominently featured. The real hair dryer, not the kind attached to the wall, was a nice touch. The room size was average. The bed was comfortable but not luxurious. The upholstry on the reclining wing chair was worn, but the chair itself was comfortable. It took a while to determine TV channels as the in room guide did not match.

There must have been only one front desk clerk on duty during most of our stay. A couple of times through the lobby the shuttle driver was manning the desk. This was a problem for us one time. While he was very courteous and wanted to help, he couldn't give us good restaurant recommendations. He was able to tell us location though, and we found some good choices.

Overall, this was well worth the price paid through Priceline. Next time would probably try the South Park zone to be closer to restaurants, etc.
