yellowdog
jyeung - Welcome to BetterBidding!I don't think $120 is going to cut it. 4* rates are way high for your stay. Are you willing to go 3* for your budget? Or splitting your stay?Henrik. Link to comment
jyeung
you really dont think 120 will cut it?....in june i used priceline at 120 and got 4* accomodation at Intercontinental hotel...i geuss I am willing to go up to 150.... Link to comment
jyeung
very intreasted in the splitting concept....can anyone plz givme some thoughts on how to tackle this? how to start etc? Link to comment

thereuare
Did you want to first try for the complete stay up to $150 and then try lowering your maximum and capping your maximum bid at $120?What are the correct dates of your stay, as the topic title states 11 nites but the date range you supplied above is only 9 nites. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
jyeung
Correct date is 9 nights....from 10/4-10/14 i apologize for that...Would prefer to split my stay with a maximum bid of 120 US dollarsIf not succesful, willing to bid upto 150 US for full 9 nightsWant to stay in the Copley, Financial, Waterfront area....must be 4* hotelThanks! jyeung
millions of apologies....10/5 - 10/14 9 NIGHTS! thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
One more questin...Copley,Backbay,downtown or waterfront areaBackBay is not a priceline zone... if you look at the Copley, Downtown, and Waterfront zones on priceline, are you fine with a hotel anywhere within the shaded regions of those three zones? (or did you mean to include another zone but typed BackBay) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
jyeung
Yes i meant Copley!! sorry about that....trip is confirmed so i need to bid soon!! can anyone help me with an effetive bidding strategy? Link to comment
thereuare
Rates are high for much of this stay and i think a 4* is going to be tough within your budget, but you can try as follows:At the 4* level in Boston you have three re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Dowtnown...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* Waterfront...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* Copley...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* Dowtnown and Waterfront...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* Dowtnown and Copley...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* Dowtnown and Waterfront and Copley...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125.You can try the above for the following date combinations:10/5-10/1410/5-10/1310/6-10/1410/5-10/1210/7-10/1410/5-10/1110/8-10/1410/5-10/1010/9-10/14Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes. If you do find success for any portion of this stay post back and we'll revise for the balance of your stay. jyeung
OK....bid exactly as u said....through savingbarns ofcourse and no such luck..i have decided to try again wen i am allowed but lookin at ur hotel list have decided i am also willing to try live in 3* in DOWNTOWN area only....how shud my rebid look? 3* my bids first and then 4*? Link to comment
thereuare
If you want to bid for a 3* first then you will have to adjust your 4* bidding to avoid duplcate bids, since when you select 3*, that is the minimum star quality you are willing to accept... so you can bid 3* and then 4* without generating a duplicate bid message. What is the best rate you're able to find, thru conventional means (use our BetterChecker to assist in your rate search), for any 4+ nite date combination above? AaronJB
I'm not very familiar with Boston, but thought I'd try to help, as every date of this stay seems prohibitively costly in the downtown area throughout your entire set of dates, I found a Hilton in Dedham (a Boston burb) that is $110 non-refundable and is 1 block from a Commuter train station. The Hotel is the Hilton Boston/Dedham and is $110 non-refundable on Expedia.Just a thought as an alternate if nothing can be had via Priceline. I'm also seeing a few other hotels near suburban commuter stations, such as the Courtyard Marriott Woburn. Link to comment

thereuare
jyeung,Glad to hear of your success and thank you for using the PRICELINE links at SavingsBarn.com to begin your bidding. Can you please indicate in this thread the hotel you received for 10/4-10/9... then start a NEW TOPIC to reflect the property you won for the nite of 10/3/ This will help keep the board better organized and also enable others to see each win reflected when scanning the topic titles of the forum, as well as in our Priceline Winning Bids Calendar. Thanks!
